How did that property lose its liquor license? I know people who were trying to get a nice restaurant in that spot in the early 90s (it's probably as nice a location in BR as there could be for that), and it had become an insurmountable hurdle by that point apparently.

Good enough for Led Zeppelin to play there.

If you wore wearing something with letters or a crest during Greek Week, you could get $1 pitchers at the White Horse. Could eat chicken next door at Church's, and drive across the river at 2 am, and party all night.

I forgot about this place. The names of people that performed there are unbelievable. I wish I had gone

1975. Two concerts at the PMAC. Missed it. “The Rolling Stones’ 1975 Tour: Baptized in Baton Rouge, Castrated in San Antone. RollingStone
Missed at the PMAC The Moody Blues, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and a lot more at that time.
Some 70’s concerts at the PMAC that I recall were Jethro Tull (Thick as a Brick), Neil Young/Linda Ronstadt (1973), Led Zepplin, The Who, etc.
Genesis (1977 or 1978?) at the River Center. Maybe others.
Most concerts that I saw were either in New Orleans at the Warehouse, City Park or the Municipal Auditorium. or Southeastern and La Tech.

I stood in line for three hours for Zeppelin tickets. They cancelled and then rescheduled and I missed it for senior trip. I went to a lot of concerts and was damn sorry to miss that one.

I was at "The Who " concert. I don't remember fans destroying anything. That may have been a general admission show when it was a mosh pit of humanity trying to get in. Much more interesting was the "Sex Pistols" show at The Kingfish bar in Southdowns. First time ever saw a dude with a safety pin through his cheek. Johnny Rotten opened the show by hocking a lugey into the crowd.

Kiss, I think it was around '77. My mom and my neighbor's mom took about 6 of us 12 year olds to the concert. Some guy passed my mom a joint and she politely said no thank you. She was a true southern lady

Disco was huge. Pharaohs, 2001, Cowboys, split Dimension. The scene was hot. The town was clean and more livable. DS was KKK hot bed and Zachary had dirt roads.

May not have been “The Who”, but there was a major concert in the late 70’s, where the fans destroyed the place, millions of dollars in damage. It killed the music scene in BR.

NBR was a white blue collar part of town and people paid more money to live near Istoruma.
Plank Rd and Airline was booming.
Plank Rd near Hollywood they had GoGo place was awesome. Shout out to all the ladies that were GoGo dancers.
Delmont Village was packed with Woolworths, Piccadilly, JC Penny’s, Grocery store.
Downtown Gaucheaux’s building sq ft wise was one of the largest dept stores in the South.
McClouds appliances, Robert E Lee, bowling alley, Wolco, Kroger’s, Howard Bros, Kmart, and the candlelight strip across the old bridge.
Monticello was being built for working class people.
Villa Del Ray, Broadmoore, Tara, and Sherwood was where professionals lived and they had doctors offices behind the old woman’s hospital.
Yes, independence Airport was a small airport between Florida Blvd and Goodwood where the state police complex is.
The Rebel shopping Center was where BRCC is and they shut down a drive in movie theater behind it.
Bon Marche, was a decent mall still holding its own with Wards and the huge movie theaters.
Florida Blvd was the place and Cortana mall was packed on the weekends. During Xmas the best time to shop there was during an LSU home football game.
It was a nice smaller town to grow up in with not a lot of major crimes even in the rougher parts of town.

Wasn’t that an AC/DC concert in the early 80’s?

I don't know what it was like in the 70s or 80s but that was one seedy arse strip club by the 90s. Even more so than Sugars

BR was still a lot like you described in the 80s too. It started to slide in the 90s.
