It seems like the gift is supposed to have a religious aspect to it

This is religious enough IMO

I was given a rosary blessed by PJP2.

No idea where it went. Probably in my parents attic.

Never heard of giving cash, and I teach catechism. Mardel has very nice gifts for First Communion like a necklace, bracelet.

Friend,

As a Protestant we never did Communion gifts, as being invited into the fold to share in the Eucharistic meal is the greatest gift after the Cross. The focus should be on the Sacrament.

Having said that, gifts are always a kind way of showing love. I therefore crafted this Top 10 Communion gifts list:

10. TigerDroppings tshirt. Ask Chicken if he would send you one for her.
9. Wood prayer cross
8. Nail clippers with her favorite Bible verse engraved on surface
7. A set of good biblical commentary books. I suggest John Calvin’s New Testament commentaries.
6. Christopher Radko first Communion ornament LINK
5. Alligator bound journal by Smythson with an encouraging letter for her to document her spiritual journey.
4. Icon in golf leaf of the Last Supper. LINK
3. Oil hand painted scene of the Last Supper. You can get hand painted reproductions of Da Vinci’s Last Supper for about two thousand and they look beautiful! LINK
2. Antique leather bound Bible. Those with silver repousse covers are pricy, but worth it.
1. Set of Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theologica

Yours,

I’d get her a Book Of Common Prayer for the Episcopal Church. Much more chill religion, with much less intrusive dogma.

Catholicism is such a rich tradition except for the pedo thing. Part of me misses it.

first communion is one of the seven greatest gifts a person can receive. Dont turn it into a monetized event.

Praise His name.
