What's the Best Recliner Chair?

Elderly mom lives in her chair 24/7 and we need a new one for her. She is having back pain, so looking for the most comfortable chair that she can also recline and sleep in.
What's the best / most comfortable recliner out there, baws?
I did a bit of searching on this site, a lot of people chimed in for La-Z-Boy, but others said even La-Z-Boy doesn't make 'em like they used to. They're pretty expensive, too, although many said they were worth every nickel. Flexsteel got a mention, along with Wayfair and Lane.
Thinking one of those big plush leather chairs that she can melt into might be the answer. If you have a senior family member in the same situation, feel free to recommend a specific make and model if they swear by it.
Thanks all, I'll hang up and listen.

Recliners are trashy.
I typed that sitting in my La-Z-Boy. I have two.
Lane sucks. Don’t know much about the other brands. Friend of mine got a recliner for his mancave at Costco and loves it.

La-z-boy ain’t what it used to be but it’s still gonna be much better quality than Lane and that shite.

not sure why that's getting downvoted but that is one comfortable seat, always joked that I'm going to steal one when I retire because it's where I do some of my best sleeping

This is one of, if not the, best.

I bought two La-Z-Boy recliners last year for my wife and I. Her recliner is still in pretty good shape. Mine looks kind of rough. Back cushion sags a lot. I’m not skinny but also not a lard arse. I was hoping they would hold up better than they have. That being said, La-Z-Boy is still probably better made than any of the other Chinese crap out there.

Not sure if they make the overstuffed contemporary recliners that it sounds like you want but Motioncraft and Carolina Custom Leather both make quality recliners.
ETA forgot Hancock and Moore

Soft and plush are sometimes hard to get out of for the elderly. I think a bit more firm works better but they can be quite expensive My father lived with us when he was over 90 years old l would find a new recliner in local furniture stores every couple of years. Less expensive and he spilled a lot and so I could just toss it after finding new firm and clean

Plush chairs will make it difficult for her to stand and may also exacerbate lower back pain if she “sinks” into the chair.
Don’t know your budget, but you may want to consider one of the reclining chairs that come with a remote and tilts forward to help the person stand. When I worked in assisted living/nursing home, many residents had one. We got one for my grandmother and it helped tremendously

My mom got her a leather la-z-boy about 10 years ago and the thing is still in good shape for its age. Everything works as it should and they're supposedly really good as far as quality control if you have any issues with it.
She even got a la-z-boy couch that they re-upholstered after a few months because the cushion wore out

Just buy her an Eames chair

she’d probably be much more comfortable in a chair designed for palliative care. You might even get an insurance reimbursement if you talk to her doctor about it

I am 72 and we replaced our 33 year old Lazy Boy rocker recliner with a Lazy Boy that does not rock and had lumbar support.
I just had back surgery and i am learning how to walk again. I sleep in that new lazy Boy and it is wonderful.
Lazy Boy has many different models with differing comfort levels from soft to firm. The only way to get a good one is to do the butt test in several different models at a Lazy Boy shop.

All of the brands that you mention are good quality….I like the Flexsteel the best, but they are also the most expensive. One thing I would strongly recommend is to be sure the chair is properly sized for her body. The vast majority of recliners are far too large for the person who sits in them.
I bought a recliner for my mon a couple of years ago. She is also elderly and the single mistake I made was hers doesn’t have the lever on the side and she sometimes struggles to fold the leg rest down.
