re: When did the beard replace the sideburns and goatee look of the late 90’s/early 00’s?

You’d think an adult would more than likely have a beard. Not sure what your assertion is all about.
It was the transition from being a dirty hippie to a professional. A personal rather than universal distinction.

I trim up the neck with trimmers and no guard and cut the rest with a #1 guard. I don't have a long beard or anything but never shave. I just kind of have the permanent look that I haven't shaved in 5 days.

I have sort of a baby face so I keep a well-kept beard.
It started as a goatee then turned into a beard because I realized that was even less work, and I got lots of compliments from females, so I kept the beard. I shave my neck, though. No fricking neck beard

San Francisco Giants' closer Brian Wilson's beard seems to have started some sort of phenomenon with Giants fans. "Fear the Beard" has become the rally cry for their NL West Championship run. I'm wouldn't quite consider myself a Sullivan-level beardophile. But I have to say that I am impressed

George Michael and Don Johnson if you wanna go that far back and include the short stubble beard (Braun electric shaver attachment)

Actually, it started shortly after relaxed grooming standards downrange. Then a shite ton of movies started coming out showing war fighters with beards. Then beards became a thing.

Those Duck Dynasty guys.

The duck commander guys have sported long beards for probably 30+ years now.

At least 20. We used to watch the original videos in HS

Hahaha yup. Only the old man had a beard in the original videos

It's almost like they developed an aesthetic to market themselves. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Their first video was in 1988 and they were sporting beards in it.
Posted on 12/24/19 at 5:55 am to TigerFanInSouthland
Their first video was 88, but I started noticing the beard trend around here when their TV show became a fad. All these assholes seemed to think growing a beard like the Duck guys would some how make them better hunters.
That and face paint.
That and face paint.

Eh, the face paint does help especially if you don’t have a beard covering your face like me.
