This ends up being my unofficial routine
March-May, crawfish, fish frys
June-August, BBQ meats and watermelons
Sept-November, Boiled peanuts and Jambalaya
December-Feb, game meats, gumbos
All of that but crawfish is 365 for me.

Saw a few sub $1 in Jeff Parish, but the standard was around $1.50. I feel like I’m JP they start steadily going up after Father’s Day until people stop paying attention

Y’all seen crab prices? Insane. Caught 4 dozen a week ago and boiled them after two sacks of crawfish. They were gone in 30 min. Buddy payed $44 for a dozen boiled crabs a few days ago

One thing I’ll never pay for. It’s a puzzle trying to get the meat out of those things and they’re never filling.
I used to call them Drunk Meat when I was about that life.
The only way you could get people to fiddle around with a butter knife and a crab if they was completely loaded.

Crawfish season ends near the end of June.

Around here the farmers usually start putting away their traps in mid-June (South LA).
Another couple weeks and it will be about done.

Your parents didn’t raise you well enough, I was taught how to pick crabs at a very early age.
Crabs are glorious. Picking them is a satisfying endeavor if you have good technique.

Enlighten me sir because the work ain’t worth the reward. I never find they retain seasoning very well.
The meat is overrated but again, it’s not bad if you have them for drunk filler.
By that time you’re loaded you don’t mind eating a piece of cartilage or whatever that plastic like crap is in their gut.

That one’s kinda weird.
ETA: Also to add crabs, maybe from June to August, and shrimp whenever.
I love softshell crabs so much I would add that in to the May-June time slot.

I get drunk at crab boils, but I've never once been drunk and wanted crabs

Sometimes when you get drunk you end up with crabs anyways.

Way over priced. We get our delivered every Saturday morning to Houston from LA. I text my supplier how many bags I want and she brings them by 9AM every Saturday. I've ordered them 4 times this season. Early in the season it was $3.50/lb very clean and very good size. Memorial Day they were $2.50/lb very clean and average size. Better prices, better size, and less dead than any grocery store I've gotten them from here.

I love them but that’s just for me and the fam. I’m not having the neighbors over and cooking soft shell crabs for everyone.
