In case you haven’t see the latest Curb your Enthusiasm yet I am not going to spoil it but it’s title is “Lawn Jockey” which obviously has a big part in the show.

I probably haven’t seen an actually a lawn jockey since the early 80s and that was that house right down from the paper mill, in Springhill, Louisiana.

They are everywhere in ky.

Fairgrounds, I believe, has a bunch by the paddock painted in the silks of big race winners from the year before.

Nah, I don’t need the headache that would bring. “Amos” hides near the curtains anyway. Mortified one of the wife’s friends (also no pics) a decade ago.

They were all over the places growing up. I don’t remember them being black though.

It's been a while.

But somebody has one of these on their lake wall near where we fish from the boat.

I figure it's to try and piss off us Democrats.

Not the caricature ones, the regular ones. They are all over farms everywhere.

When I bought my house 12 years ago, previous owners left one behind. It was made of concrete and faded and worn, but you could tell that the skin tone was painted dark and had very prominent lips. Ironically, one of my horses ended up knocking it over and breaking it.

ETA looked very much like this, but more worn & faded

The irony of the Sambo or lawn jockey is that if a white person puts a statue of a black figure in their yard, they're a racist...but if white people only put white figure statues in their yard, that would be racist as well...

White people can't have statues I figure

I have seen those we called them Tar Babies. I’ve never seen a lawn jockey like the one posted below your post.

Just went down a concrete statue rabbit hole and bought a Robert E Lee statue that will be overlooking Lake Chicot (Arkansas) from now on. If you see it from a boat, you’re invited to pull up and have a drink.

The irony of the Sambo or lawn jockey

The real irony is that Little Black Sambo was Indian (from India) and not black at all, except via skin tone.

It was painted as racist against black people (which was actually racist, assuming that no other people in the world have dark skin).
