Those things were awesome. I remember a kid in my class had one, and everyone wanted to ride with him on field trips.

A friends grandpa had one. It was a road trip machine. He would borrow it and we took it to many away games in college.
His car was in the shop for a week so he borrowed it and we would go everywhere in it.

We had the early 90s Chevy Astro. Complete with the window blinds and more cupholders than you had people.

I drove one to school for two weeks, but it had crazy JL stereo system, 27" tube tv, power blinds, party lighting, etc...
We pretty much used it to smoke weed in, to and from school

No doubt. Pops was in the military, he would get $$$, when transferred, for moving our own shite..mother was great at packing that fricker down with as much shite as possible.
Moved from Portland, OR to Corpus Christi, TX. Made a solid 4 week road trip out of moving.

My parents almost bought one of those in the very early 90s. After the test drive, we all wanted it except him. He ended up getting one of those Oldsmobile vans instead.

Yes, we had a Ford Econoline in the early 90s. Took a family trip to Yellowstone and Montana in it.
It was okay, but no vehicle is satisfactory for that trip with 5 people in it.
Our was loaded with blinds and window screens with the TV and crappy antenna that didn't ever pick up a single station.

Parents had one in the early 80's. Mom would not let me use it to go on dates. Wonder why?

I got a chevy customized van in 1992. My kids were 10, 10 and 12 and it completely changed road trips!!! I had a Caprise Classic prior to the van and 3 kids in the back seat on the road was torture, for us and for them. Once they all got their own space/ head phone jacks and two TVs with VCRs, it was majic!!!!!! Also when it was just me and their mom, that fold out queen size back seat was majic too!!!! LOL!!!
