I worked with people with disabilities out of college and a lot of them were fat because they knew all the churches that gave out free food. Point being, if you can’t eat in todays America you gotta be some kinda stupid.

Was homeless for 4 months. Nuked every bridge imaginable.

Been broke as shite before but thankfully had credit cards to lean on. Thankful as hell that those days are over.

I ordered a coffee at the LSU library while studying my junior year. Had $60 in my bank account that morning. Norton fricking Antivirus auto-drafted (this was 2009ish?) and wiped me out. My debit card was declined for a $2 coffee and had to leave the coffee on the counter. Didn’t have credit cards at that time.

As a kid (dad's dumb decisions), yes.
As an adult, I had a few days or a week here or there where I could spend any money except for gas.

One time I left my card at bogies and didn’t have cash and it was Sunday so I took a jug of coins to the coin star and it was like 300 bucks

Hopefully things have changed now

I was for a few months while going through my first divorce. She had me by the balls. It was so bad, my barber would float me haircuts until I got paid.

I had been working a new job for several weeks and my paycheck was screwed up multiple times. I had moved and had to get a new apartment. Long story short, found out on a Friday afternoon that my check was still messed up, but would be resolved the following Monday. I had less than $10 in my account so got rice and beans and made a big pot to eat on that weekend. Then I found some easy money on Craigslist doing some manual labor and got some quick cash just in case the idiots in HR screwed up again on Monday.

When I was 21 I lived with my 1st cousin and we both worked in the kitchen at DeAngelo's part-time. We were broke as shite. We look back and laugh now but it sucked, we lived on oatmeal with peanut butter, tortilla chips with a big can of nacho cheese, beans, and whatever one-off stuff his mom (my aunt) would bring us from time to time.

Not in a way others have been broke.
I was in college and had two knee surgeries in a row.
Lost my scholarship and had to pay school $1000.
I called my father and asked him for 500. He drew up a contract for me and I had tk sign it and mail it back to him in Winston Salem.
But j had no money and couldn’t work.
I say that half-heartedly because I know ppl that are beyond 100,000 broke and that is a hard place to be.
My mother was set to retire in 2009 but the market dip crushed that. She filed for bankruptcy and it was tough for her.

More context needed. At what age? Education? Criminal history? A lot of contributing factors.
