because they don't raise their leg to piss all over everything in the house. Generally they don't chew up shite either. Easier to train, listen better, etc.

I have had male and female labs. Both were machines in the field. My female lab has manners when she is inside. Stays to herself. My males, not so much.

Maybe just coincidence.

We got the female doodle puppy in my avatar pic when the kids were really young because I didn’t want to worry about the dog when it was around the boys growing up and liked the idea of the dog not shedding everywhere. I don’t know if we just got lucky but she is the sweetest lovingest animal I’ve ever been around. She won’t leave the yard and never chewed anything. The dog still has every toy we’ve ever given her and keeps them all in a bin. Also, has never bitten anyone or been aggressive at all. Only downside is she is a good alarm dog but I don’t see her attacking anyone for any reason. If we’re walking and another dog barks at her she jumps behind me. We also think she’s scared of the dark. Also, she follows me around the
house all day which can drive you nuts.

Your female doodle and my female doodle appear to be clones of each other with the exception of the afraid of the dark thing. After growing up with Weimaraners, Dachtsunds, and having a Maltepoo of our own, she is easily the best dog I have ever had. Nothing comes close and that is compared to all of our friends dogs as well.

I've had males and female labs for over 30 years. The best was a female I adopted at almost a year old. Never trained, just left outside to dig holes. Trained her but had to let a pro work out the kinks I couldn't. Best damn dog I have ever got. The two males I have now are great dogs but damn they are hardheaded. I'll call em and they just look at me. Then I holler and they finally come which pisses me off to no end. And when the poon smell comes around it's Kaos. Walked one the other night, and he didn't show up till noon the next day, tired and stiff.

I will only have female dogs. They are generally calmer, they won’t raise that leg and piss real quick in my house, and most importantly - I don’t have to worry about them rubbing their red rocket dick on me or my furniture.

I've had both and I find it the opposite. Boy dogs do dumb stuff right in front of you and are fairly easy to train as a result. Girl dogs will wait til you go out for an hour and destroy thousands of dollars of stuff on the sly, you wont find it til next week. It's hard to discipline after 20-30 minutes, their brain doesn't compute if you get angry at them a day later.

But overall the dog's behaviour has a lot to do with the owner, too.

I have always preferred females for my hunting dogs, they just seem more focused and loyal to me.

If you have an outstanding female, from any breed, but especially hunting,
or any other competitive Sport, you can breed her. You can find a good stud dog, they are advertised.
If you have a great male, how are you going to get pups?
I've been owning, breeding hunting beagles for over fifty years. About thirty years ago I raised a bitch, Candy. All my beagles can be traced back to her. She had hunt, line control, stamina, and great temperament.

I hear they listen better than the males. I've never owned a female lab but I never had an issue with any of the 10-12 male labs I've owned. The two Chocolate males we have right now listen great, I was always told the chocolates are crazy.

I find males more chill. I’ve own strong breeds and females can be dicey with each other. And they don’t forget. Males shrug it off, usually, and seem less hard headed/strong-willed. But I’ve had both and don’t have a favorite, per se. Males tend to be more property oriented and females more people/home oriented, so I’ve read.

I always thought all dogs were male & all cats were female. Is this not correct?

Keep seeing people talk about males peeing everywhere.
I've had two males. Neither of them pissed in the house, or anyone elses house. They would rarely pee when we went on walks.
Why are your dogs peeing in your house?

The dogs aren't crazy its the owner. My older sister has indoor pet dogs. They listen/mind me better than her and I only see them couple times a year.
They know!

From a hunting perspective:

Female dogs more even tempered

Male dogs better drive and won’t quit

That’s all I care about. Depending on what terrain and type of situations you are hunting choose accordingly

I currently bird hunt open terrain usually with just my dog. I need a dog that will go forever and not quit. So I have a male
