Why is it that peanuts from the shell are better than from a can?

I cannot understand this at all. But Allah damned peanuts I remove from the shell are so much tastier than those oily canned bastards.

Cooking things in their natural state is very important. Bones and shells impart flavors that are lost when they aren't present.

bones don't impart flavor. there is very little evidence that bones can provide any flavor during cooking outside of braising.

shells offer protection and very, very little if any flavor. the difference between unshelled and shelled peanuts is the slow brine/roast and the lack of blanching.

Boiled peanuts are fricking terrible. It's nothing but salty, greasy mush, which I'm sure is why over 80% of boiled peanut fans are at least 85 years old.

Nope. Why the hell would anyone bother to boil peanuts? Makes no sense. I love peanuts in a shell, unshelled salted peanuts, dry roasted peanuts, etc. Boiled peanuts are terrible.
