I don't have a card with them.
My best guess is I am about to find out about identity theft. Looking for an answer that doesn't equal lube up for credit screwing.
I check my report periodically new unregonized cards

Could be a letter bomb disguised as a credit card promotion sent from a bitter exgf

Co-signed on a loan gone into default?
C1 does auto, mortgage, LOC, all kinds of lending besides cards. Not sure but they may even service loans for other lenders (like student loans, FHA/VA).
If you are behind with any credit type cert. mail is lazy ez mode process service.
If you recently closed a loan (usually high dollar) that included some type of insurance (title/flood/etc.) it could be the actual policy and they are using the mail receipt for your file as proof you did receive said policy.
When in doubt, refuse the cert. mail and soon the sender will call to ask why refused and you can then find out what it is. If it is a court process notice somebody will knock and hand it over anyway /shrug (guy I used in Tulsa to serve actually went and sat in a college classroom and waited for roll call one time LOL)
ETA: Just saw you moved, could it be auto lien related? Title or lien release as new residence state is/not title holding or lien entry type?

None that I know of so identity theft is real
I check credit karma regularly though.
The loc is interesting - Quicken loan called me for refi. We we're starting process but I didn't move forward or sign anything.

Or they will just take a default judgment against you. Great advice. Sending certified mail = service if it's a long arm case.

I have to drag my arse to post office to get this?
I have no business with Capital One

That's a change to me. So now a default judgement can be obtained just by sending certified that is ignored. What if said defendant moves frequently and the mail is delivered to A residence of record just not THE current one?

Marketing gimmick to get your attention so you open the letter and read it.
