Would you buy a used car that had "minor damage" as reported to Carfax?

Carfax notes:
Damage Report
Damage reported: minor damage
Damage to front
Would this dissuade you from buying this car?

Minor: Generally, minor damage is cosmetic (including dents or scratches), may only require reconditioning, and typically does not compromise a vehicle's operation and/or safety.

Not necessarily.
I always take a used car that I am considering to my mechanic and get him to inspect it. I would go by his inspection.

Yes, but really check the car
Minor damage reports from carfax are typically fender benders with no towing required

Thats a good idea but unfortunately the vehicle is in another city. It would be difficult to make that happen. Obviously I would have my mechanic inspect it after I bought it but by then it may be too late.

My only concern would be if there are parking sensors where the damage occurred.

Yes, my wifes current car had minor rear damage. It was the rear quarter panel and it was properly replaced. Check the car out well and you should have no issues.

Yeah and lane assist, adaptive cruis control etc. I was thinking that too.

I bought an expensive, used car over the internet years ago. I hired a professional car inspector to go to the dealership and thoroughly examine the car. Cost a couple of hundred bucks and he gave me a thorough and accurate report on the car.
Perhaps you could do the same.

That's the problem though, I don’t really know the nature of the "minor damge."

I’ll see if i can find one in that area, thanks.

Have a mechanic look at it. when I bought my last car it was from out of state. I got to the point of purchase on two and had a 3rd party mechanic inspect both. First one found evidence of an unreported accident, second one received a clean bill of health. I’m currently driving the second one.
$75 per inspection was 100% worth it.

If the gaps in the doors, hood or trunk were even in the affected area, it would not be a stopping point for my consideration.

A nephew sells Hondas & he's been saying, for mths now, that used cars of all models are almost impossible to find, let alone purchase. A bird in the hand, mabe?

I’d buy it after having inspected by an independent party.

Depends on the price and the use. If it's purely cosmetic and I had a kid going to college an hour away? Sure. If it is for the wife, probably not.
If it's structural damage no way in hell.

I was floored to find out most people don't do this. I was entering the final stages of a purchase one time and asked for a test drive and to bring it to get inspected and they said no but we have a blah blah point inspection on site. Laughed my arse off and just walked away.

They have receipts from the repairs? We have a 2018 Highlander. Had it for 3 months and the wife had to swerve to miss grandma, jumped a curve and took out the fence and sign at the front of a neighborhood. Was deemed the old lady's fault and listed as a collision. Pretty significant repairs including repairs to the undercarriage. Had to haggle with her insurance company for 6 months to get appropriate diminished value for the car.
We got it repaired at the dealer. 20k miles later it's all been fine, but we have all the paperwork and I'm sure the dealer has records on the repair.

Good luck. I've walked away from one sale because of an inspection.
