Why did TNA send their top guy out to get beat like that in a quick, nothing match?

putting over a guy on a stage like Wrestlemania against a 20 year veteran isn't the proper place in my opinion. Hendry needs a storyline where he comes out on top in the end. at the earliest, he might have an Intercontinental or US title at 'mania in two years. but he'd have to come over now or in the very near future.

i don't follow wrestling as much as i did back in the '90s and '00s though. i'm just now getting back into it since having a kid. at 6 months old, he doesn't have the faintest idea what's going on, but he's locked in on it when it is on.

The problem was Orton winning, it was how he won and that this isn't going to lead to anything.

He's going to wrestle Cena next so they just aren't gonna let a guy from TNA beat him then have him challenge for the big belt. Nothing against Joe at all but that's just not how things work

I read an interesting rumor this may be a way to retire a title with linage to Vince. Cena does actually retire with it and they create some new TKO title or something of the sorts, rumble winner and EC winner battle for it at mania next year and a new champion is crowned

I can get behind this.

If Randy was going to win, it shouldn't have been against Hendry, or at least they could have had a competitive match. Wrestlemania doesn't need filler matches.

As far as Travis Scott, that would have been the perfect spot for Solo. They're not doing anything with him now, might as well make him Rock's lackey. You can at least get a Cody vs Solo feud out of it. We are not going to a get Cody vs Travis Scott match.

Yeah I’d say this is probably why they went with Hendry instead of Rusev in that spot if they are doing Cena/Orton at backlash.

Hendry appearing at Wrestlemania with the TNA belt and getting a viral moment with Orton is a gigantic rub by itself. Eating the L does nothing to Hendry going forward but would’ve really took some of the air out of Rusev’s return imo

Hunter said in the press conference that he told Joe to soak it in and that this first one will be the easiest. After this the rest of his will have higher pressure and expectations.

Hunter has applied many times that Joe will in WWE very soon.

Joe also got John's stamp of approval on McAfee today. Pretty much what you need in order to do anything in WWE.

Hendry has to win in order for him to matter. Great gimmick but he seems to get squashed when it comes to big moments.

Have to think there’s a run coming though. Dude is white hot - that pop was crazy.

They are patiently waiting his TNA contract out. I think with the partnership WWE is trying to get more eyeballs on TNA through Joe before ultimately Joe makes the jump.

Joe legitimately got a top 5 pop last night and for a guy who is a champion in another company with ZERO build up, speaks volumes to the folks in WWE.

Maybe but that's a decision Joe and TNA had to make and clearly they thought this was worth it for the exposure which it very well may be. Can't argue the match could've been more competitive

The whole thing with Scott was just terrible. There's no other way to say it. Terrible idea. Terrible executed. Just terrible

He will be fine. We think too short term and not enough long term. He lost to Orton not R truth and even if he had I'd say historically even that is pretty easily recovered from

As you said, a run is coming

They may find a way to create some sort of TKO title but just for the record Cena isn't retiring with the belt

Especially not without turning face first
