Wow! Great story, thanks for sharing that. Just about everything posted now or news is negative. Great way to start the day. That was truly a great generation.

There is a book called A Higher Calling. Great read about this story and the respect pilots had for each other on both sides.

Adam Makos, the author, is a WW2 military historian and also wrote Spearhead about an armored unit fighting on the Rhine, specifically Cologne in 1944-1945. Recommend it as well.

I guess this shows that even during the hell of war, honorable men were still capable of great acts of compassion- even towards their enemy.

It is good that they were able to meet years later and became genuine friends.


This is another story from that era. Allies during that time- but governments always seem to get in the way. It took a lot of effort for this reunion to take place....Governments could learn from PEOPLE- yet seldom do.
