I called and cancelled my service back in September but they did offer a no contract price of $20 a month to keep me. I was too fed up with them to do it so I cancelled anyway.

whatever discount they give you will be offset by the mandatory "broadcast and sports fees" increases.

They re-upped my discount automatically. I was shocked, but happy.

Call specifically for the department to cancel your service. Tell them you are cancelling, because you were offered Dish Network for XYZ dollars (whatever you are paying now essentially) and since yours is going up, you're going to switch. They'll eventually get you to someone who does what you want. Watch the bills, though. Sometimes it takes a few calls for them to get it right. Make notes, and take names from your calls.

I enjoy DirecTV Now. It's $10 a month for 3 months then just threaten to cancel and they keep the $10 a month.

My discount just ran out too and my bill jumped to $141 a month for xtra package with no movie channels at all. There's no way I was going to pay this so I called to see what they could do. They offered $35 off a month and I told them to come get their shite. I just got the box in the mail to return my equipment and there's a coupon in it for the select package for $20 a month for a year and $45 a month for the next year with a 2 year contract. It also comes with a $200 reward card and the movie channels free for the first 3 months. I already switched to PS Vue and I'm loving it and I'm tired of Directv's bullshite so there's no way I'm going back. Streaming is the way to go.

well since it says in the fine print you never bothered to read, it will now cost you double the regular price rates to cancel, so you are stuck living out your 2 year contract, and by the way, the second year costs double their regular prices as well to make up that "discount" you thought you got, so you are still going to pay the equivalent of full price for 2 years of service and you never saved any money

according to the contract you signed, they will get full blown retail price no matter what you do

how people continue to fall for their scam is simply amazing

I am embarrassed to say that I pay $240/month for directv. I haven’t turned it on myself in years. My wife and kids can’t seem to figure out that everything they want to watch is available on the Apple TV.

When i sit down in front of the tv, I check my YouTube subs and then shut it off.

6 months ago I called to reduce my bill. Ended up getting more channels and free HBO for a year for much less than I was paying... Then 3 months later I called again to cancel. Was even willing to pay the termination fee. We just never watched live TV anymore. Was on the phone for 20 minutes practically begging to cancel. They just wouldn't let me. Ended up giving me a year for free with the current package lineup we already had.

They simply won't let you leave anymore. I'm sure with Netflix, Amazon and the plethora of other streaming services they're hemorrhaging customers and literally giving service away to keep customers.

Proof for you non-believers...
