Yukon vs Yukon XL?

Buying the old lady a new car. We just had a baby and plan to have two more in the future. Anyone that drive either of these care to give me some info? Especially about the cargo space. I've heard the cargo space is virtually non-existent in the non XL models. Looking at the 2017 model with the 2nd row bucket seats. Any info about either will be appreciated.

I absolutely love my 2020 GMC Yukon XL financed for 87 months at $975 a month...with my 30A sticker on back window.

Depends. Are you willing to spring for the parking lessons she will require?

Don't get the XL if it I going to squeeze the travel ball budget. Gotta keep the priorities in order

Get the XL SLT and hold on to it for 15 years.
Awesome vehicles.

Do ya really think y’all need a third row with just one kid? I know you said you plan on having more but by the time you have two more kids your wife will be wanting a new vehicle.
Get a car or smaller SUV now and save some money.

3 or more kids get XL
Don’t buy a vehicle based on kids you may have in the future

Need pics of old lady to properly assess what model is right for her. You know the rules.

She will be driving it until the wheels fall off. We're not the type to buy a new car every 5 years. So we're trying to buy with the next 10 years in mind.

Buy an XL if you are planning on using the third row a lot. The difference in length is 20 inches between a shorty and an XL, and all of that extra length goes behind the third row.
Look at it this way. In a shorty Yukon, you can fill the vehicle with people just the same as an XL, but there’s no room for any of their stuff.

Get the xl. The regular has very little space behind the 3rd row

Turning radius. That's the biggest difference. Yukon turns like a regular cab shortbed pickup. XL turns like a regular cab longbed pickup. MPG difference not very significant.

Yes, get your wife a school bus sized vehicle when most women can’t even handle driving a tiny car.
Just make sure you get her a sweet puff haircut and some lulu leggings that and tell her to gain 30 pounds to complete the ensemble.

Just my two cents, but I wouldn't buy a oversized mini-van for the wife.

If all it needs to do is transport kids and associated gear, a minivan will be far more practical and cost effective. Sliding doors can’t be thrown open into an adjacent vehicle by the munchkins.

You can't really go wrong with it unless parking a big vehicle is a problem for you. Yukon has the best resale value of any full sized SUV according to KBB. It's reliable, but expensive.
It might be worth waiting for the 2021 model, which has more tech features and more even more interior room.
The GMC dealer up in New Roads, LA is pretty awesome if you want to look at Yukons.

Why get a Yukon, or especially an XL, with just one? Save your money and drive something smaller until two come. Get her a Highlander or something.

It was the absolute grand slam appropriate vehicle for where we were with kids, etc.
Wonderful reliability, spacious, and it towed like a muthafricka.
Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Yukon XL are great vehicles.

Buy the XL. When our kids were young, I bought my wife a GMC Suburban (XL equivalent) - great investment.
- The extra room will be used - better to have and not need than need and not have. We traveled a fair amount - the extra space is worth every dime.
- Safety - larger, heavier vehicles are safer - physics proves it every time - that's your wife and kids - protect them.
- The parking/turning radius issue is a canard - my wife was initially intimidated but soon (and in DC traffic) she was using the mirrors and could drive and park like a pro.
- The additional wheelbase also gives a better ride, a real plus every day and a great perk for long-distance driving.
- Resale/trade-in value - the bigger vehicle holds more value - when that day comes, get paid as much as possible.
