This isn’t a hindsight thing that she realized after the fact. She literally said she was going through so much stress and wasn’t in the right space to be competing in Tokyo and should have quit gymnastics way before Tokyo to get right lol But go on and keep finding reasons to excuse
Bump.

I don't think he's coming back to this thread.

That said…she still quit on her team three years ago, blaming stress, then retroactively claiming it was the twisties when people started criticizing her withdrawal.
Seeing as how the FBI ran interference for her abuser, I give her a lot of credit for not having worse mental issues.

Everyone in the gymnastics world.knew it was the Twisties.
You dumb, mouth breathing, racist fricktards just can't get through your Cro-Mangun heads that Twisties (yips).is a much different animal in gymnastics than in the stick and ball sports and that she was at risk of injury or even paralysis. That's why she stepped down.
It's not that fricking hard.

I’m watching it again because
It was just special to see.

Lost in the shuffle is Suni Lee. She was so clutch.
And she's beautiful.
And she's beautiful.

That's a real phenomenon, but in Biles' case I think the "mental health" part explains the hostility. That's just not something that resonates with people older than 40 or so years old- myself included.
That said, not all "mental illnesses" are created equal. A kleptomaniac is not a schizophrenic person is not a person who got the "yips" at the Olympics. My sympathy levels differ widely across those three people, and the yips victim is kind of in the middle of the three.
I think if I got the yips at a highly visible sporting event, and had to be sat down, I'd lean more towards saying "I just wasn't performing up to par, or even close" than to invoking "mental health." Call it "the yips" either way, I guess.

At least you are sympathetic without calling her a quitter.
The yips are mental.
The yips in gymnastics can literally kill you
The yips are mental.
The yips in gymnastics can literally kill you

Why don’t they like her?

I would not agree with this, but, I'd give it some credence if Tim Daggett wasn't able to see, while she was in mid-air, that she was unaware of where she was. You can see it on her face when she lands. It was like a surprise to her. Regardless of why or how she got to that point, once she was at that point, she had to leave the competition. This was not about her being below the normal level of performance (though her scores were not where most people thought they would be). She was clearly unaware of where she was in space.
Then why didn’t she just say that?
Why hide behind “mental health” excuse?

She still says it was stress-induced. I feel like anyone who hates her because of her attitude in Tokyo should be forced to watch her Netflix doc.

Because both are obviously related to one another.
Like getting the yips in golf or having the Steve Sax syndrome in baseball. Both are connected to your mental health.

I'll go ahead and say it:
Because she's black.
And because she's successful on top of it.
