20 Gauge For Skeet and Dove

I’m looking to add a 20 gauge semi auto to my shotgun arsenal. I’ve done more dove hunting and clay shooting over the past few years and the 12 gauge is too much.
I’m trying to keep it below $1k. I love the Beretta A400 but they’re too pricey for a secondary gun.
So far, I’ve got two guns on the list, I’m leaning on y’all to provide a few more to look at.
Franchi Affinty 3 Sporting
Stoeger M3020 Upland
I would like the gun to have an option in walnut with anodized receiver.

Benelli Montefeltro.
I just bought my son the youth combo and spent last weekend in Wichita Falls shooting doves. You can get the standard size for about $1099. What's an extra $100 for one of the best guns, in my opinion, out there?
I started shooting it a little, and I can't wait until he wants to shoot my 12 ga, so I can trade him and put the adult stock on it.

Benelli Ethos fits the description of what you are wanting with the exception of the $.

I have a Benelli Montefeltro and a Beretta A300 both in 20ga.
I think for your situation look at the Beretta A300. The Benelli Montefeltro is a fine shotgun but its at the very top of your budget and the A300 comes with a Kickoff system in the stock that I can assure you works even for 20ga.

Franchi vote here. I have the 20 and 12 and love both guns. Shot the 2 weekends ago for teal for the first time, loved it even more. It is a jam up skeet gun too.

12 gauge is too much weight or too much recoil?
If you’re worried about recoil, I would plan on a gas gun over a really light inertia gun. Recoil won’t be bad compared to a 12 but if you’re dropping size due to recoil, why not get the action with the lightest recoil.
I’d look at a browning silver (might be hard to find under $1k), Winchester SX4 or Beretta A300.

STOEGER is a good option. I have 3 for the wife, kid and myself. My favorite is my browning silver 20 gauge

I shoot an SX4 12 gauge, honestly it’s not too heavy or too much recoil. I’m just wanting something different and a 20 gauge for clays and dove makes sense.

You seem set on a semi automatic , I have 5 . Last year I bought a stoeger condor supreme o\u 20 gauge . I love it for skeet and teal and doves . I find the 3rd shot not very useful accept to cripple birds . 12 gauge different story on 3rd shot .

Bought a montefeltro. It was best to death in a duck blind. Went out and got an M2. Best gun I’ve ever shot love it. Spend the extra

I have a 20ga Charles Daly over and under. Great for dove/quail/pheasant boom! boom! Probably pick one up 500 to 700.

I’ve got the poor man’s Berretta (A300) 12g. It’s fine for as much as I shoot.
When I was a kid, my non-hunter mom would actually occasionally get a limit,of doves with a 20g Remington 1100…
But that was in the 70’s-80’s when we got covered up in birds. Unfortunately haven’t had the same experience as an adult.

I just got an 80’s era LT 20. It’s in almost perfect condition. I think it was the first year for screw in choke tubes. Can’t wait to down some squirrels and HOPEFULLY a couple rabbits with it.

I have both. Though the Stoeger is in 12 and not 20. I would lean toward the Franchi, though both are good shotguns.
That's said, I got an A400 Xplorer 20ga this year that is an awesome dove gun. A better shooting experience than either of the above, if you want to spend a little extra

This. Totally worth it. While its at the top end of your budget that gun is a steal at $1000 in 2022. Seems i remember they were $900 5 or 6 years ago. Best value in high end shotguns available IMO

I have an a400. Bought an a300 20 gauge for ducks and geese this year. Was legit during teal season.
Around 800 at Bowie
