Any of you baws have a new F150 with the Powerboost engine? I’m unfortunately in the market for a new truck and want to stick with King Ranch F150. They no longer offer the 5.0 V8 on King Ranch (which is incredibly stupid), so I’m stuck with either the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost or the 3.5L V6 power boost hybrid. It does seem like the newer 3.5 eco has had all of the old (timing) issues resolved which is somewhat comforting.

Leaning Ecoboost non hybrid, but dealers keep telling me I can get a better deal on the Powerboost since that’s mainly what they order/stock on the lot, even though they have higher MSRP. The 7kW built in generator does seem kind of cool, but I don’t know how I feel about having a hybrid. They do offer a 8yr/100k mile warranty on the battery/hybrid system though.

Anyone have a Powerboost and like or dislike it?

Sounds like they are not selling as many of them if they are giving that much of a deal.

Maybe, idk. I somewhat believe what he said because no dealer really has a ton of either on the lot, but I can look online to see what they have ordered/in transit to the lot and the majority are Powerboost. So it’s not so much that they have more sitting unsold on the lot as much as it is what they have been ordering.

It almost seems like the regular Ecoboost sells less and they don’t order a lot of them.

One reason I’m leaning Ecoboost is I can disable the auto start/stop crap. Cannot do that on Powerboost.

I just really wished they still offered the 5.0 so this wouldn’t even be a question.

I ordered a 2024 F150 King Ranch powerboost last year and have been having it since July. I ordered the PB only bc it was the same price as the EB. I have 11,000 miles on it so far and no complaints.

Gas mileage is a little better than EB but not drastically better. If you can get it for the same price or cheaper than EB I would do it.

To be honest I barely notice when it switches from electric to gas.

Any chance you could step up to a Tremor and get the 5.0L?

I say step up. I don't know that the Tremor package is a step up from the KR.

I do know that when King Ranch walks there is a Tremor...

Can't speak to the powerboost, but the 3.5L eccboost is a bad dude. I luckily haven't had any issues with mine.

Have you seen the marsh gray two tone yet? It’s hideous compared to the stone gray or darkened bronze in the 21-24

Wow. Bone headed move from Ford, but is that foreshadowing what's to come?

I know a few people with them and they all love them. Power is ridiculous. One person I know used the onboard generator to plug into his house after the last hurricane and got through that power outage with it. He has since bought a generator though.

The Ecoboost timing chain issue is an older issue from previous generations as far as I'm aware, unless the newer gens have the issue too. My 2015 didn't.

ETA: I actually like the auto start stop feature. Thought I wouldn't but I do. You have to press the brake pedal far enough for it to engage, so if you are light on your brakes when stopped you can avoid engaging it pretty easily. I personally wish my truck required a little less brake pressure to shut off, because I'm very light on my brakes when stopped and still wish it would shut off.

Yes. I am not happy at all about that. It isn’t deal breaking but man it looked way better before. To be honest, I’m probably going to get the bumpers and side two tone wrapped with the stone grey color (really more bronze/brown than gray) my 2015 has if it bugs me too much. The old color was perfect for KR in my opinion. Not ideal but I’m pretty committed to a King Ranch bc I love the interior.

Going with either white or black truck. Test drove a black today, waiting on white one to come in next week to compare side by side.

ETA: my truck search actually started looking for a 2024 model year that was new/left on lot specifically for the two tone color. There just aren’t any that are within a distance I am willing to travel that have options I want.

If you need a good stone gray match, hit up DS. I have the swatch at my desk from when he did his last year

Eta: if deals are similar I’d go with ecoboost

Yeah I actually talked to him about it this morning. That’s the route I’m going to take if I can’t get used to the stupid marsh color they have now. I’m hoping the new color doesn’t look as bad on a white truck, which I should see in person next week sometime.

I think I’m going to try to stick with regular ecoboost unless it’s going to end up being more expensive somehow. Which would be stupid if it does because Powerboost is like a $2k added option.

My Powerboost is a tank. I will not be going back to full ICE on my next truck.

I typically get about 22 mpg on my daily commute. I've gotten upwards of 27 on a trip to Bastrop using state highways.

Towing is where is shines, though. I have a 23 foot World Cat dual console. It's big, heavy, and cuts through the wind like schooner, but the truck doesn't mind. About the only thing I might change is adding a pair of airbags to the rear.

You don't need to do it on the Powerboost. The electric motors give you instant torque and instantly cranks the motor if you need the extra juice.

I don't have experience owning one, but I have see a lot of videos on youtube of people running their whole house off of the built in generators not burning much gas overnight. Seems pretty cool. I would agree if you could get it at the same price it may be worth getting.

I have owned several King Ranch F-150's with the 5.0. My 2015 went 300k miles with the stock engine and transmission. I didn't want the ecoboost so I looked on Car Gurus and found a clean 2023 with the 5.0. Drove 500 miles to pick it up but I just turned 46k trouble free miles. I added the start/stop kit that goes behind the switch and it literally took 5 minutes. Summertime in S. Louisiana is no time for your a/c compressor to stop rotating. I say look for a low mileage '23 and go get it.

Tell them a couple things.

1. I’m not limited to a ford.
2. I’m not limited to this state and will travel for deal.

This is another option and I’ve been searching daily in a 500 mile radius. If I went 2023 it would strictly be to get the 5.0 (I’ve had 2 of them already and like them a lot). I just haven’t really been able to find much that meets my criteria lately.
