I have a 2018 Magic Tilt boat trailer with a 4 flat plug with 8 wires. I've never seen one like this, and I cannot find one to replace it. I'm trying to avoid rewiring the entire trailer. Any of you have any idea where I can get a plug like this?

A white, brown, and green go to my right tail light, a white, brown, and yellow go to my left tail light. And there is a brown and white paired together, and a white alone (assuming white alone is the ground). I have a yellow running light on both sides of the trailer, but I cannot tell what wires go to those.

Any idea how I can wire this up to a 4 wire plug?

Any help would be appreciated. See pics below:

Green is ground and goes to the female part of the plug. That's all I have. never seen a plug like that either.

My bad. too much vino. Are all the lights on the trailer LED?

Trailer Wiring Colors

Brown wire to the tail or parking lights.
Green wire to right turn signal/brake light.
Yellow wire to the left turn signal/brake light.
White wire to common or chassis ground.

Green is not ground on trailer lights, always white

I hooked the greens together, and the yellows together, the whites together, and the browns and the white paired with the brown together, still nothing works.

I would be tempted to carefully slice that thing open and take a look at what’s inside.

Just tried connecting all like colors together as well, and nothing.

I'm guessing you have LED's on your trailer and each one has to have ground run to it. The days of grounding the stud (incandescent bulbs)are over with. You can make a loop from the white wire coming out of the LED and put a ring terminal under the mounting stud and it will work then.

My first thought was the whites are individual grounds so you don't have to rely on the lights grounding through the hitch, but I was always told not to do that for some reason I forget.

I dont have LEDs! I guess I'll be rewiring tomorrow unless someone can provide me with a solution. I dont understand why they wouldnt sell these types of plugs anywhere...

Three whites to one white in plug, three browns to one brown, etc?

If that didn't work then I have no idea. I'd assume you have three browns to go to bulbs (happen to have a center light on a cross support?), green and yellow are turn signals, and three whites that ground each housing. Can you not see where the wires go under the frame or into the light housings?

I can see a white/brown/green coming out of the right tail light housing, a white/brown/yellow coming out of the left tail light housing. Theres no center light on the cross support, but one yellow running light on both sides closer to the toungue.

The third white and brown must be the power and ground to the running lights, guessing they split somewhere. Try this and if that don't work, optronix makes a damn good LED.

coming from trailer to the plug:

tie all whites to single white on plug

tie all browns to single brown on plug

green to green

yellow to yellow

What truck are you connecting this too? The reason I ask is the newer trucks have a fused trailer light connection and if it's blown you will never have lights. Take a test light and see if you have voltage at the plug on your truck.

Tried that. Did not work.

The truck is a 2018 Chevy Silverado.

I’m officially stumped then, it doesn’t make any sense to me that 8 wires can go into 4 pins and it not be that way, so I’m either missing something or it’s another issue like the fuse, maybe try hooking a small 12v battery up to a couple of the wires on the trailer at a time and see what happens.

Do you have a round receptacle on your truck? If so just buy a round plug.

You need to contact the company that made the plug & find out what color wire is what. There used to be an industry standard on what color wire meant what but that isn't the case any longer.

Pretty much the whole OB last night

It looks like there is a lot out there on forums. If it were me I'd replace the whole harness.

I agree, rewire with LEDs, it’s not difficult. Trailer lights are the least reliable part of a boat.

I do have a round receptacle on my truck, but isn't that a 7 wire plug? I'm going to call magic tilt today to see if I can get some info and possibly a plug that matches. I've read the post that was linked above. Doesn't really give much info.
