Anyone ever use a Waterfowl Junkie H-2 Bird Hitch to clean ducks or geese?

My dad wants me to order one for him. I had never heard of it before but it looks pretty sweet if it works as advertised. Anyone have any experience with this product?

if you have a lot of birds to clean, especially geese, they are awesome...
once you start, the Tom Sawyer syndrome takes effect and usually others finish up the pile...

Time for a downshift rant
Rant [ON] OFF
If you’re shooting so many ducks that you need this apparatus to clean them before dark, shoot less ducks. There’s so much duck being wasted and thrown away when you’re breasting birds. Part of my problem with how commercialized and popular duck hunting has become is the amount of duck wasted every year from people shooting piles of ducks and not wanting to completely clean them. Pluck your damn ducks and quit wrapping the breast in bacon with peppers. You could do that with blackbirds, waste way less meat, and it’d taste the same.

I get not wanting to waste the time plucking a whole bird, but It's amazing how many people don't realize what simply leaving the skin on the breast does to a duck. Breast them out but please god leave the skin on at least.
If you skin the breast, you are dead to me in terms of cooking knowledge.

I agree to a point. I'm not going to pluck snows because its the bone that makes it taste bad in my opinion.
But I agree that the hunting experience as a whole has changed(at least from what I can tell). That Instagram strap pic on ma mud motor tho

Uh, no. I only want the breast. I don’t hunt that much and really don’t like the rest plus it really isn’t that much meat.
Plus stop trying to tell me what to do.

That little strip of meat on the back is the best part of the duck.
I pluck all of them nowadays, if they are full of pin feathers I skin em out

I like to fry bacon and put salt/peppered duck breasts skin side down in hot bacon grease in cast iron skillet. Flip briefly.
Makes me wanna thaw some.
I find leg meat to be the sweetest tasting.

I work so hard to kill ducks that I feel guilty when I breast them out. I typically only breast them out when they are shot up really bad.
I’ve been waxing a lot lately. I waxed 12 specklebellies two weekends ago and they all turned out great. I was excited to have 12 perfectly cleaned birds in the freezer.
They’re just so much more versatile when you have the whole bird rather than just the breast.

Works as advertised. I think its more of a novelty item. Used it about half the time the first season, and I think its been in the garage ever since.
If it'll make your old man happy, get it for him.

The old timers used to do the wax thing back when they killed plenty ducks. They all swear by it. We’ve cleaned chickens that way too.

I didn’t even know people breasted ducks till 3 or 4 years ago. I’d never seen anybody at my camp do it. We always plucked all of them.
Best thing was a pair of fresh wood ducks for mawmaw to cook the next day in the oven

I have one my wife bought me 3 years ago and it's never come out of the box. I tried to sell it but couldn't find any takers. I pluck 90% of my birds and breast the rest with skin on save maybe a spoonie or two that get skinned and the rare black jack we might shoot. I keep the hitch I guess in case I ever make the freelance trip to Canada my buddies always talk about or go somewhere to chase white geese but I honestly haven't ever used the thing. Never hunt snows as my wife has about hit her hunting limit by February 1st anyways and it's not worth hearing the complaints.
On a side note a great recipe with skin on deck breasts is to score them, salt the skin, and sautée on a cast iron skillet on a cook top in duck fat. Hard to beat them cooked this way fresh.

no, I pluck my ducks like an adult

We've used one in Kansas. it takes a few birds to get the hang of it. They aren't worth it for just ducks, but when you have 35 big Canada geese to clean and leave a wing on, it is money.

Bird hitch is good on big ducks, won't work on wood ducks or teal, I would slap you if you try to breast teal anyway. Wood duck problem is their skin kinda sticks to the meat. Works really well on geese and big ducks, breasts them fast.

When I shot a mess of birds I will usually pluck a few, and breast out a few. If I do breast them I keep the legs, and slow cook them. My wife does not like whole duck, but will eat the bacon wrapped breast. So i usually cook the whole birds for me.

I’ve never used one. If you have a bunch of geese to clean lay them on the ground breast up with their head between your feet. Step on the wings as close to body of the bird as possible, then grab legs and pull up nice and smoothly. It does the same thing as the hitch cleaner. It works on big ducks also:
