Looking at buying a grill within the next few weeks and was originally looking at getting a conventional gas grill (Something like a Weber Genesis) but then I saw these. . .

https://www.firediscgrills.com/

Looks like a versatile alternative to a regular grill. I cook a lot of fish and vegetables on my grill now, and it looks like this would work a little better for that. Add to that the capability to cook soups and gumbos makes it a little more appealing. (5gallon capacity) Would work as a fryer as well and is portable so it could be brought to tailgates or on camping/fishing trips.

Just curious if anyone has one and how they like it.

Looks interesting, cleanup is probably a motherfricker and a half though. I'd like to do some truly good stirfrying, can't do it with anything but a high output gas burner.

interesting contraption....

I have to say that it looks pretty pricey for what it is. Also, getting metal red hot repeatedly generally oxidizes it pretty quickly, so I can't see it lasting too long.

the thing is so unique, I would like to try one out, though....

Looks neat, but as other said looks like a pain to clean.

If your look for camp and tailgate check out the Campmaid its uses your 12 dutcn oven in a new way.

I'm not getting it. A burner with a permanently attached skillet?

I guess the next premium upgrade they will offer is a firedisc with removable cooktop.
"remove the cooktop to use on ANY burner, even on your kitchen stove!"

Though if past history has told us anything is that Yeti owners will soon be adding a Firedisc sticker to their back windshield.

That thing is nothing like a grill except that it will cook food.

Firedisc is a frying pan/wok with the burner and stand attached. I don't know if I would consider that versatile.

For $400 you could could probably find something better.

Not new, the messicans been doing this for years. They call them Discadas. Use an old plow disc and weld up a bottom.

They recommend just hosing it off and wiping down with oil, similar to what you do with cast iron.

It breaks down in 3 pieces so it'd be easy to pack into the truck for tailgating and when we go camping. I know it wouldn't be a 100% replacement for a grill, but just seems like it could do more.

They have a youtube channel showing people cooking chili, fajitas, stir fry, funnel cakes, fried chicken, hamburgers, fish, steak, etc. so it peaked my interest as an All-in-one cooking machine! (Can't justify spending the $ on several outside cooking apparatus all at once, as I have a ton of other stuff needing to be purchased for a new home) I see Goodwood grill is a local retailer; might go check them out in store.

Thanks.

A quick google search pulled up several places where you can purchase one. The disc and burner can be had for a couple hundred cheaper than the firedisc. May end up getting one and save some $

It's a neat setup for an all-in-one unit. Could definitely go to the local latino grocery market and pick up a burner and a plate to do similar style of cooking more less than half the price. Wouldn't be as portable though of course. I have a nice carbon steel wok but nothing I have in the kitchen (gas, electric, or induction) is strong enough to really get more than the very bottom hot. I'd really just like the tall burner setup than could fold up.

go look at it at goodwood but unless you have to have it that day it is likely you can find it somewhere else less expensively

I use a 30 dollar steel griddle I got at cabelas over a square crawfish burner I added longer legs to

just get a discada and use the burner from your crawfish boil pot or turkey fryer.
