If so did you buy all they had listed or asked them to break it up. Looks like they have some intersting peices of property for sale in Livingston parish right now.

Most likely no mineral rights. Just timber land mostly

Where? I've hunted Weyerhauser land at Gum Swamp below I-12 and it was some awesome flooded timber hunting.

If you use it strictly for hunting look around for timber companies and try to get in a lease.
Livingston property from Weyerhaeuser is gonna probably be the highest price around. It is one of the best areas for pine trees in the South. There are also a lot of mills very close. Depending on the age of the trees there, they might sell the property after it has been clearcut, which would suck
I have cut some hardwood areas for them around the Amite River. You just have to find the better pockets.
Try Soterra in that area too. Those two are the biggest property holders around south LA

Have not bought from them, but if they are like Plum Creek, they know they don't HAVE to sell. They are willing to sit on the property and grow trees until they get the price they want. In mose cases they are selling non-productive lands (swamp/bottom land) or lands where they can get enough per acres to buy several acres elsewhere.

Probably the smallest a timber co would sell would be some out-of-the-way 40. They tend to and try to buy land in bulk purchases from each other. A lot of Weyerhaeuser's land was bought in the late 80s in huge blocks.
I know that Soterra sometimes buys smaller pieces of property slowly with the belief that they will be able to get all in an area soon. They also buy unproductive, or less productive, land from people and fertilize the hell out of it to make it more productive. They are both primarily pine timber companies and since hardwood mills aren't close, they dont want to grow them. The soil in LP is also acidic in most places, so that is why they predominately grow pines. Maybe try them. The guy you need to talk to is Steve Stewart. I threw away his business card a few months ago, so no number, but he answers emails pretty well

Don't forget about the huge breakup of Crown Z. That is where most of the timber co's got their current land in the south
