I am wanting to mount a scope on my AR. I have the scope already but I need suggestions on a 1 piece mount. Should I buy a mount that is closest to the receiver or something with height to access the charging handle? Any recommendations?

Even a low profile mount shoild give you plenty of room to access the charging handle. What type of scope?

Need to know what make/model scope you have and how you intend to use it. I have a Burris P.E.P.R mount with a Vortex Strike Eagle on one of mine.

For QD I like Larue but they're not the only good option. If you don't need QD don't get it; it just adds weight and expense. For non QD I like the Aero Precision.

Almost all rail scope mounts are going to be the same height over bore, 1.5".

Check out DNZs freedom reaper. They also have a product called the Nevel that makes mounting scopes level fool-proof.

The scope is a 3x9x40 with a 1” tube. I am mounting it on a Smith and Wesson M&P 15. I am wanting it to shoot hogs with.

I use ARMS throw lever rings on all of my AR's. They aren't cheap but some of the best.
You can get Low, Medium and High depending on your scope.

I may be the outlier here but I'd recommend you just get some picatinny rings and mount it that way. On an LPVO I would recommend a one piece because otherwise you're adding more weight than necessary.

I'm a fan of the Burris Xtreme rings.

What do you mean by an LPVO? What does that stand for?

Low-Powered Variable Optic. The OP stated he was using a 3-9x40 which is a rifle scope. Most LPVO’s are in the 1 power magnification range like a 1-6x24 or a 1-8x24.

So the Burris extreme tactical? Looks like it has 6 screws on the top. Wonder if I can find any in BR?

Ive heard nothing but great things about Burris products, I have no personal experience with those mounts but they have excellent reviews. Any mounts from Vortex, Leupold, or Burris will be fine. I dont know if you will find any in BR. Maybe check Bowies?

Geissele is what I use to mount all my optics.
