Anyone ever hunt here? Lost our old camp (was sold), and looking for public land for now until I get in a new place next year.

Any suggestions, tips, or whatever would be appreciated. I understand it’s super thick, which I like.

Tried searching on here, but no results.
Thanks.

that is some of the hardest hunting around. Its thick, flat, slap full of palmettos, snakes and stays wet. HOWEVER, the pressure is pretty low and its got some good deer in there. Where snake boots if you plan to scout when its warm/hot. You have to put the time in scouting but its worth it.

Thanks. Everything “walkable”?

No need for pirogue?

its plenty walkable, its just that it holds water and seemed to me to never drain..But no pirogue, it just gets sloppy at times but man the hunting is solid for public land...check out this link, it will give you plenty more info..

I've hunted Thistlewaite for years. Lots of good deer in there. For Bow, you shouldn't have much trouble. The either-sex days for rifle gets a good bit of people, though.
Don't leave your climber or camera...the bears will tear them up.
I would suggest you go squirrel hunting and do some scouting while chasing the grey / cat squirrels. Rut is later in December into January

I woodcock hunted there once, the palmettos in the area I hunted were over my head. The dogs would go on point and I couldn't see the dogs or the birds when they flushed. I never went back.
