I had several run of the mill ar15s (before losing them all in a boat accident).

They are all psa, Anderson, core, etc direct impingement guns besides 1 piston stag.

I was looking at a ddm4v7 today and wondered if they are noticeably better? Should I get one of those, a benelli ethos, a sbe3, or…..

1 a300 and 1 baseline ar15?

Looking to spend 2k total… tia

Buy a quality upper and lower.
You can build the same, or better, for much less.

Depends what you like and what you wanna do but with that budget, why not get a PRI MK18 upper and a nice lower? That's a cool and very practical rig

I’m just thinking if I need a shtf ar is the dd the no brainer?

I don’t really need any of them but have $1k in gift cards and was going to put $1k with it

Id rather have a mk18 with a lpvo on it. That's a combat proven rig that's MOA capable. If the shite never hits the fan, you'll have the coolest rifle on the block most of the time.

Yea yea, that one. The one with the supressor that threads down the barrel a ways.

Daniel Defense is a top tier mil spec rifle. You are paying for their name to some degree, but also for consistent high quality function and Q/C. They also have some the best quality and accurate barrels on the market and make them in house.

As far as anything else, you aren’t getting any “advancements” on the AR platform like you would with an LMT, KAC, or even Geissele with those companies improved BCGs or gas systems, but Daniel Defense has as high of consistent quality as anyone and has really good customer service.

Long story short, they are a premium off the shelf mil spec option that will run with very few/any problems, but you are paying a premium for their name.

I have/had multiple of theirs and haven’t ever had any issues out of any of them.

I don't see a difference from one mil-spec rifle to another, and I've shot lots of them. If I knew I have to trust my life to one, it would be a nice one(expensive). That said, lots of youtube videos of cheap ones running thousands of rounds with no hiccups. If it's not a true duty rifle, buy a decent mil-spec AR and save the money, it will serve you just fine.

Interesting. 1/2 the price for a better weapon sounds great

Slow down. I didn’t say better. They just shoot a little softer because they’re gassed a little better.

I was looking at some this summer and was very close to buying a DD.

Ended up buying an Sig MCX Spear LT. actually very, very happy I did. Love this gun. I have a couple of Radians and I think I prefer the Sig. It’s more that what you’re looking to spend but I would suggest saving a little more and get it.

A DD AR15 is very reliable. Are they worth the $$$$? That depends on your perspective. I can promise you that most AR owners will not use their PSA, S&W, DD, or Q AR-15 enough to find out if the PSA or S&W last as long and stay as reliable as the DD or Q.

All 4 of the above AR's will run like champs for what most people need/want.

At the end of the day, you must determine what is right for you. What do you "need" out of the AR you purchase.

Learn how to use what you can afford. Then if SHTF, be better than the guy who bought a Daniel Defense thinking it made him fight better. Training > than Daniel Defense and your reward is you get to pry his from his cold dead hands.

Explain in your words where the extra 2k went in a DD ar.

Most people watch YouTube vids and think they need a "duty grade" weapon. Most of us will never abuse a gun that much.
