It’s worth it because on those slow, 70 degree days in the blind, you can talk about how great your jacket is.

I bought some pnuma outer layer stuff in 2016. Windproof, rainproof, quiet, and durable with a lifetime warranty. I think I spent 700$ on the jacket and pants. I’ve hunted freezing arse cold/snow in Montana, Mississippi woods, and Delacroix marsh. Best money I’ve ever spent. Especially combined with merino wool base layers. Have a few friends who swear by kuiu. Are all these expensive clothes necessary, absolutely not, but I’m happy with mine. So to each his own.

Pretty true. 2 of our buddies in our duck hunting group are all about Sitka. We hunt the SE Texas marsh and rice fields where we might get a cold day in the 30's. Other than that we are pretty much in the 40's to 50's. I get by with all my Academy Magellan stuff which I think is pretty legit but to each his own. I think it is a look at me status symbol personally. In fact, we go to Oklahoma every year in January and this past season it good cold as frick. Like in the single digits for multiple days and it didn't matter how much Sitka you had on, you froze ur arse off.

I personally don't know anyone who wears them, and I know a lot of hunters.

Its mainly tourists. But If the value is there for you, its worth it.

The value isn't there for me. shite, I get my boots on sale from Sportsmans warehouse for $70 bucks. Last forever, waterproof and do everything i need.

I have a beretta coat that will be my duck hunting coat till I quit. It is 15 years old now and is in perfect shape. I do believe that you get what you pay for, you wear that thing with the wool liner it came with under it and you just aren’t getting cold.

I’ve worn the under layer twice in La. But the shell is waterproof and pockets are where pockets should be.

Have had all the big names, and weren't satisfied with truly fowl weather performance until the Sitka Hudson jacket.

I layer underneath with various brand fleeces etc with base layer, fleece vest, but I've not found a better outer piece than that jacket for when it gets nasty (and we hope that it does, of course).

Got tired of cold boat rides in the marsh being damp (or worse)....no more.

For you, is there something you don’t like about your current clothes? Does it work for you?

For me, with my build, off the shelf clothes don’t fit. There ain’t a pair of pants in this country sized medium, large, tall, etc that fits me. I need a waste size and a length. I have bought some Kuiu pants on sale that I love. They were worth every penny. I also own a Sitka jacket that I bought second hand that I expect to be a lifetime purchase — not worth full price IMO. I have a First Lite brimmed beanie hat that was worth the expense — mostly because I wear it most of the MS rifle season.

As the other guys mentioned, they won't make you kill more game but more comfortable.

Hunting/fishing is one of my main hobbies and don't mind spending money on comfortable gear. I'm excited to use it during bear and early archery in Arkansas again

Shooting a deer under the feeder sixty yards away with a rifle like 95 percent of fools around here? Wear a neon road vest. It won't matter.

If you hunt once or twice a year - it won't be worth the price.
If you go out hunting often - sure, it's a good investment.
High end items are only worth if you use 'em often, otherwise you won't notice difference most likely

I have bought some of it the past year since I bought my farm.
My place is very North MS. It is freezing cold here usually but it can get pretty cold. All I have to hunt out of right now are ladder stands. Those things get really cold. Layer up the way you’re suppose to and they work great.

Also, Sitka has a lifetime warranty. You mess it up and they’ll fix it.

I was that guy that bought the expensive crap, kept it in an air tight bag with pine needles oak leaves, etc. for scent control. I hunted in North LA and North MS so I have all of the insulated stuff as well. I now live in south Texas and i hunt in crocks, shorts, and a t-shirt most times. To me ground blinds have completely eliminated the need for expensive hunting clothing.

A lot of good posts here. One thing that isn’t mentioned (or at least I didn’t see it) , buying sets that are meant to mesh/layer together makes it a lot easier to pack for an extended trip and be ready for a variety of conditions. To me this one of the things I like most.

I've found waterfowl hunters get more use than others..

I get it. If you hunt weekly and are in cold, damp environments they will probably be worth it.
