Seems I'm not seeing as many truck nuts as I used to... but seeing A LOT of guys with these spacers that make the tire go outside of the wheel well.

I guess it's all a progression...

YETI Stickers
Truck Nuts
and now Wheel Spacers

On a side note:
This is actually illegal in Louisiana. Fenders and Covers shall be at least the width of the tires of the motor vehicle. ~LA RS 32:364

I have heard of cops giving tickets for tint too dark... haven't heard of them cracking down on this yet...
I'm sure the insurance lobby will eventually get to them when they get tired of paying for windshield repairs.

Sadly what you're seeing probably isn't even spacers, there's companies putting out 12, 14, and 16 inch wide wheels with crazy offset to make those big arse lips and the wheels stick way out. It's a fad that needs to die.

It has been going on in the Jeep world for decades. Throw a set of 15x10's on a CJ or Wrangler and they stick out past the flares. But those were skinny vehicles to begin with. I've never been a huge fan of it. I had some 15x8s on my old YJ, and eventually I'll get some new rims/tires for my TJ. 8 is as wide as I would go. Looks stupid anything beyond that.

It was a big thing in Hawaii when I was younger, and people here started doing it. Died down for 15 years or so, but I guess it's coming back

It's likely just wheels with less backspacing.

Agreed. Someone must have torn through a cops land in Houma because they were ticketing jeeps left and right a few months ago.

It was almost as if they were targeting them specifically for the tires extending past the fenders.

These are dumb fricks who never take their rides in the mud either. A jeep that has tires that stick way past their flares sends no telling how much mud into all kinds of places. I am talking at least $50 in quarters just to wash a little old Jeep and then a perma-ban from the car wash from leaving a ton of mud behind.

While we are here what's up with all the grounding straps dragging under vehicles? Is there that much running through these trucks that there has to be a grounding strap making contact with the ground?

These damned things are everywhere in central Florida. They sling debris and water like crazy. Very dangerous and disrespectful to other motorists.

Lots of company trucks have them if they have transfer fuel tanks in the back. I have yet to see any personal trucks have them.

I don't mind seeing those little Jeeps that way, but I saw a Cherokee set up like that in Ruston.
