How many of you have the new style fs12t and have scrupper plug issues? Also planning on building a new seat frame and mounting a boat seat on it. One of the plastic, lighter seats you would use by the trolling motor. Any suggestions?

1. What issues?
2. Boat seat? Stadium seat may be a better idea.

The scrupper plugs leak by so bad! Yesterday while out it seemed to fill the back portion of my yak and a good bit in the middle. I had it trimmed pretty even but it got a little tough to paddle there at the end with the added weight.

Can you give me an idea on said stadium seat?

1. Scuppers: I went to a hardware store and bought rubber stoppers which work well. Drilled small hole to push string thru to tie them on.

Leave the scupper plugs out and all of it will drain. You shouldn't have much water coming in through the holes. I can't imagine how you got enough water up there to slow you down.

Depends how much he weighs, and the amount of gear carried. I've been in some boat where the water poured in thru the scuppers if not plugged tight.

I've tried scrupper plugs in and out. When I take them out the water builds faster. When I paddle at any kind of decent speed considering, the water drains out fairly quickly. However with the scrupper plugs in not so much. I understand I'm a larger guy so tgat plays a big role in it. I tried a big rig a few weeks ago with out scrupper plugs and didn't get wet at all.

They make those self bailing scupper plugs. Might help some. I've got the older model FS12T and don't have that problem.

I know what problem he's having, most of the new FS12T's have the same issue. What happens is when the two molds are put together, top half/bottom half, the holes for the scuppers don't exactly line up properly meaning the seam in the scuppers isn't making a good seal between the top and bottom letting water into the hull. My first time out in mine I believe I ended up with about 2 gallons in the hull.

What I did, and what most people end up doing is you can either A) put in your scupper plugs from the bottom. This prevents the problem but doesn't allow water to drain out since the plug is in. Or B) get some marine grade silicone and silicone the seams. This is what I did and it's worked great so far.

ETA: Just saw your post on BCKFC. Is it an issue getting water INSIDE the hull? Or just a problem getting water where you sit?

If you're having problems with water coming in enough to where it slows you down, I would look into buying a bigger kayak.
