I came across an old map of the basin and at the bottom of the map it says "I GOT THIS MAP AT THE FISH'N STORE". Was just curious if this was a local store somewhere back in the day and if anyone has some info on the store. Map is 1984 Edition

Damn! That map is as old as me. The last place I’ve run across selling quality paper maps was the gas station at the corner of 70 and 997 in Pierre Part.

most fishing stores carry those satilite maps nowadays. Cajun gun in new Iberia and academy carry them.
bad thing about old maps in the basin is they are useless for navigation because the basin has filled up.
I've seen old maps from the 30's and where there were lakes is now all woods. it's remarkable how much it has filled in since that map u have was printed.

Hunter Barrilleaux back in the day had some great Spillway maps.

They used to have that same map, as well as other WMA maps, available from the WLF library at the BR office on Quail Drive. I don't recall a FISH'N STORE so the map is probably from the mid to late 80's.

My dad has that same map.
I even got one that was drawn in the 1970’s for the Bayou Black area.
I might frame it for my man cave if my wife lets me.

Im not using the map, i was intrested in "the fish'n store". Was wondering if it was an actual store somehwere around the basin.

I usta love those maps they were regular white paper and ya could write on them I still have a bunch of them. Back then I worked on a tug boat in the basin and those maps were great aides finding your way back to crude oil locations. GPS technology became advanced and more popular and the maps faded away

Pretty sure the one you’re interested in is at 1202 Louisiana Ave in Lafayette. Stop there every once in a blue moon. Prefer the “Country Station” in Broussard off Morgan. For a small place they seem to have more than the big stores. Special colors too.
