ATV riding locations

I finally bit the bullet and got a new bike. Just as a reference point, my last bike was a 1996 Warrior. It's a Raptor 700 so I'm not looking to do any mudding obviously. I'm looking for spots with some open, fast trails. It's been about 15 years so I'm not sure where to go(legally) anymore.
LA Dunes?
Holly Beach?
Forrest Hill?
Turkey Creek?
Other trails that I've never even heard of?
I saw a thread when I searched on LA Dunes closing and the Kisatchie area still being open. The LA Dunes site says they're closed but I hear people still go ride there. Thanks in advance

I'm sure. I'm leaning towards Holly beach this weekend, which from everything I read, is good to ride so we'll see.

Don't go to tower trax with a raptor or in the middle of summer. You can't make it down the trails, and the only trails you could ride would be the main road which is so dusty it's not even funny.
Last I heard about La Dunes was it was closed. It would be perfect for a raptor though. It was an awesome place all around. They had dunes, drag strips, clear lakes to cool off, and some trails.

LA Dunes is, for now, closed permanently. I rode there about once a month from 2006 until it closed a few years ago. The property was being leased and the property owner went up on the lease making it impossible to turn any profit so it shut down. There's been a few laughable attempts to reopen it but nothing has ever come of it.
There used to be another dune area in Wiggins, MS that we went to but they shut down also about a year after the dunes did. The owner used the property as collateral on a loan then never paid a note, property was seized.
Currently there's not a ton of options for sport quads around here, however if you are into racing then you may want to check out the LACC Series, it's a cross country race through trails, 1 hour long. They have a growing ATV class of all makes and skill levels with races all over the state. I did one of their races a couple years ago but burned my engine up 2 laps in and ended up just getting out of it all together.

so could it still be accessed via other trails or is it policed pretty hard?

however if you are into racing
nah, more just trail riding and blazing down some gravel roads/old fire roads.

I was told years ago there was a trail that connected LA Dunes to Kisatchie, but that was back around 2000 and no one ever seemed to know anything about it. To my knowledge it's inaccessible and the family who owns it uses it as their own private riding area, so I'd imagine you'd get run off.
Sucks because we still have 2 dune builds in the shop with pretty much no where to ride other than the occasionally sand drag event, one of which being a 100+hp Raptor.
The racing is pretty fun, alot of guys started as casual guys wanting to check it out and now they run the full series. I wish my motor wouldn't have taken or crap or else I'd still be running it, it was a blast.

and what about the Turkey Creek/Forest Hill area? 15 years ago that was a pretty hot spot for riding but like I said I've been out the game a while.

I think there are a lot of "trails" like that

It was a Suzuki Z400. I basically had a purpose built race quad to ride around at the dunes
. Full long travel suspension front and rear, A arms, longer swing arm, big bore, headwork, cams, big carb, etc etc. When the dunes closed I parked it for over a year then decided to go race. Guessing sitting so long it had a ring get stuck, scared the cylinder and lost compression. Ended up parting it out about 6 months ago.

Red Creek Offroad park and Sabine Atv park would be good for a sport quad, plenty of sand.

We used to ride/race at LA Dunes and I sure do miss that place. I wiuld suggest checking out the Sandstone Trail in the Kisatchie National Forest just south of Natchitoches. Definitely the best trail in Kisatchie imo. We go a few times a year and camp, usually in the Fall when the weather is nice.
