Bay boat used as a ski/tube/board boat

May have to look for a boat to pull daughters on a wake board and tube. Can a bay boat be efficient to pull a tube or a board? I'm guessing the only issue might be getting out the hole slower than a fish and ski or a true ski boat? If I'm dropping that kinda money I really want it to double as a fishing boat

Absolutely. I grew up skiing/knee boarding/wakeboarding at St. Stanislaus out of their fleet of Whalers. The only issue is the motor. Gonna need to get something to put the line above or come off both rear cleats into one line

The 2-1 works better than the cheap rope risers. At least that was always our experience. Me and a half dozen friends all learned how to ski/wakeboard behind a whaler.

You're probably going to have to finance the piss out of a Super Air Nautique, it's the only way.
In all seriousness though, I learned how to wakeboard behind a bay boat and it did fine. If she wants to get into water skiing at all you'll probably want to find a ski boat though.

Shallow draft is the issue because a skier can pull the boat if they get on it hard. I used to be able to spin out my buddy's jet ski when slalom-ing. You can sort of fix that with one of those big water bags though

The OT would call this trashy......

Learned to ski, kneeboard, and wakeboard behind a 1988 McKee with a 90 Yamaha.
You would have thought we had a Master Craft we skied behind it so much.
Today, we do all the same behind a 22' Blazer. Yeah, not having a tower or pylon sucks, but I got some yokes from Overton's and we make do.

We used to water ski and wake board all the time with our fishing boats.

Use this booster ball for towable tubes on my bayboat...highly recommend cause it keeps rope above water line.

Learned to ski behind a 16 foot predator with a 48 Johnson. You'll be fine with the bay boat.

We pulled knee boards and tubes behind a 15' jon boat with 40hp tiller.(I know, we are trashy river rats)
Just buy a ski pole or a bridle to attach to your tie downs on back and you're golden.

I've tubed/skiied behind pretty much everything except a ski boat. Never had a complaint.
If you really want your kids to have fun, get a bullet or Allison and throw them off at about 70mph and watch them skip like rocks across the river.

Just asking for general purposes or have you already got an idea of the bay boat mfg you looking for?

In general. i just can't see making the investment in another boat unless it can be used for fishing too. I was planning to stay off the boat market for a few years

Center Console will be fine.
You may find a tow bridle helpful
Or install a Turboswing Tow Bar
ETA: If it had a motor, I've been drug behind it.

Might take a little more work to plane on slalom but not much different for two skis or a wakeboard.

The biggest factor is having someone good enough to get up. Oh yeah, don't try to be pulling a 300lb lard arse either

We perfected the back foot drag on my brother's wave runner and taught it to his buddy who was about 250. He only did it once and it took him at least a minute to get all the way up but he did it.

In 2001 I bought my bay bay boat in Jonesville from a dealership that had them because people were using them in place of fish-n-ski.
