Still high I believe. Starting to fall, but fish can still be caught,

Will have a few week days off coming up and wanna take my step son fishing a few days. Best place I can think of where I know he can catch some. Just hope the water is out the woods

Atchafalaya and Miss are both pretty high, as gauged by driving over both 190 bridges yesterday, so Sorrel and Pigeon will be high and muddy.

I have a hard time figuring it out down there. Went one time and kept a log of river stages, conditions, and had a good trip. Next time I went with water at matching height it was about a foot higher.

With the water falling it will only get better. Maybe I've been looking at the wrong gauges or waiting on the wrong height.

check the USACE's web-site for the bayou sorrel locks gauge. it will give you water level and +/- movement. you want it falling for the best action. as it falls you can "chase the drop" from the north end of the basin to the south and put together some really good trips in short order. STAY AWAY from the black water coming out of the swamp because it is to acidic (tanic acid).

And so it begins, the yuppy flood to the spillway. Good thing I work shift work because it will take you 2 hours to launch on the weekends with all the people that can't even back a boat down

Yep. Hopefully it will be short lived.

Good thing is its real easy to get lost back there. Hopefully that'll keep the pot lickers in the shell cuts.

Who you callin a yuppy? And I began invading that summ-a-bitch years ago. Since its an hour and a half drive for me I cant make many "scouting" trips down there so I usually have to wait on word from others about when the water is right. Just trying to do some research on my own so I wont have to rely on 2 or 3 week old fishing reports

Welcome to the world of GPS

Not gonna lie, I do get a little upset when I run 20 minutes back into the spillway and get to "my" canal where i usually never hear a boat and there's 15 boats in there. Damn potlickers.

Is that your landing on Sorrel? You'd think you'd want the business.

eta. oh wait, that's Jack miller's. So much for my witty retort.
