I had a tree come down in that storm that passed through BR yesterday. It has some bees in a hollow spot. Is there any body that will come and remove them for free? Or will they move out on their own. Looks like the tree cracked the hive.

Steve’s Bees llc (225-255-0349) removed some at a friends house. Don’t know if there was any cost involved.

A small colony of bees sells for $160 -$170 these days. A bee keeper will be glad to come get them for free. Look up Baton Rouge bee keepers club face book group and let them know where they are.

They will leave on there on in a few days. Then get the honey

It’s a pain in butt getting them out a tree

Maybe, but more than likely not. Most don’t want to deal with removals. Removals generally are $300-500. My dads a bee keeper and does removals. It’s hard to say if the OP’s situation is really easy or not.

I keep bees and have done a few removals. If I ever do another one, $300 minimum. You may be able to find someone eager for free bees. Post a picture of what you have on your local beekeeping FB page and I’m sure you’ll get some bites.
