Which would you choose?

I’ve yet to own a Beretta, only Benelli’s, so Benelli for me…

they are redoing the m2 and montefeltros to basically be like the ethos and SBE3 (controls and forearm) and I think taking the comfortech or whatever out of the M2 for this year so if you want an M2 get a current one I'd say. Monte's are beautiful guns and its on my list.
I just got an A300 Ultima and its a fun little budget gun. Threw a code black duck in it and had no problem using it as a refuge gun. The only thing is its doesn't shoot 3.5" and I rarely do but like the option in case shells are hard to get late season and I run through my reserve or hunt certain areas that are larger water blinds.
Between the A300 and the M2 (don't have a Monte to compare) I'd get the M2 but the A300 is a fast shooting gun. Its a 28" barrel and still like 5" shorter than the rest of my 28" shotguns. Shoulder both and see. The kick off in the A300 is nice but it likes to jump and hit your cheek for some reason. (early ones I read and heard had trigger issues but supposedly its worked out). Just gas vs. inertia basically.

Isn’t the Benelli like $400-500 more?

Never shot the Beretta but I used a Montefeltro in Argentina and loved it

Beretta is $950, Benelli is $1100

I paid $830 out the door for the A300 Ultima in all bottomland. Mom and pop shop though. I really want a Franchi though, they may have some new camo patterns and little changes coming soon I saw on a video from SHOT Show but I do plan on getting an affinity 3.5. I have a problem with shotguns, I just love shooting them and putting them all on the gun rack and looking at them lol. Sort of a weird collectors thing.

Both, I do
The montefeltro is a “pretty” gun, and the A300 is a gun you could take to the duck blind and not worry as much about it.
The A300 also has kickoff which does make a noticeable difference.

Aren't the Franchi just a poor man's Benelli? Same guns with not as quality coating?

I've got the old A300 outlander and it's a great gun. Zero issues out of it and it's run through a lot of shells.
I do like the Montefeltro though, just don't own one.

I'm looking at the exact same guns. I'll also throw the SX4 in the mix. Plan to get one sometime this year.

I liked them both so much that the deciding factor for me was that I liked the safety location on the benelli more. I grew up on 870s and like the safety behind the trigger. In hindsight I made a good choice, its a fantastic shotgun.
They are both spectacular and you should just get the one you like more. They've both been the best value in shotguns for a long time now.

Went to Argentina about 10 years ago and the lodge used only Beretta A400 20 gauges. The 4 of us went through over 650 boxes of shells in 3 1/2 days.
I asked the owner about the guns and he said Beretta's A400 were the best with respect to longevity in his experience. The lodges shoot only locally produced shells which are dirty shooting compared to Remington, Winchester, etc... He said Berettas last about one year down there and they are trashed.
Benelli might be better gun but when a dove lodge in Argentina is using them they are pretty damn good. I shoot Berettas myself before and after Argentina.
As a side note a group of hunters came in a month or so before we arrived. They were with a shotgun company and Academy used to sell their semi-autos. They brought their own guns and parts. Lodge owner told us all of their guns were down by the end of the second day and they were out of spare parts. Had to shoot Berettas the rest of the trip. I can't remember the name of the gun but Academy no longer carries them. I remember they came tapped for a scope for Turkey hunting but can't remember the name brand.

I guess, the affinity's my buddy has doesnt shoot high as frick after being shimmed and the highest hi viz comp sight they make. Would make a good rainy day/refuge/kayak gun.
Plus if you already have a few benellis is a Franchi a poor man's Benelli or just something different?
ETA: That Sx4 in the retro camo looks awesome. A lot of love for the Sx4's. Tough call between that and the A300 imo.

Oh I know, it was more a poke at myself for spending too much money on shotguns.

ETA: that was why I brought up the Franchi. Shoots and feels similar in the hands except my buddies wasn't shooting high. As for finish and all that, Im sure its not up to par with the Benelli counterparts but I'm pretty rough on duck guns anyway.

I've had both. Only real difference is the Beretta is softer shooting. I currently own 2 Benelli's (actually one Benelli and 1 Franchi) and 0 Berettas.
