My beretta 391 shotgun forearm grip has gotten sticky and in falling apart. Any advise to replace it or something to coat it so not sticky and keep it together. The gun is older optima model and can’t find replacement forearm. Will most likely need stock also.
Gun is Camo factory dipped.

A fella i shoot clays with on occasion has a 391 doing the same thing. I don’t have a solution, but it appears to be a common occurrence with that type of grip material.
ETA: His is mainly doing it at the pistol grip of the buttstock, but it’s the same type material on the fore stock, which is also flaking some too if I remember right.

Most will replace. Dont get any oil based lubricant on those parts in future clean with soap and water only

Here is Beretta’s response
My gun is a 391 urika Optiama
Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.
Rubber material cannot be repaired once deterioration has set in. Unfortunately, stock or forend replacement is your only option. However, forends have long been sold out through our channels for over five years. If stock replacement is required, then we recommend that of a 1301 or A400 stock. The latter will retrofit to your receiver. For forends, we recommend Gunbroker and Numrich Gun Parts.

Solvent based cleaners tend to cause this

i've been told insect repellant causes this a lot too
I have already replaced the recoil pad on my 3 year old A400 because it started falling apart

Midwest Gun Works is a great source for Beretta parts. I’ve used them for fore-ends on older A302 and A303’s. I believe they had, at one time, Beretta’s old patterns on out of production guns and could still cut new stocks and fore-ends that were nigh identical to factory.
Edited to add: when I see a response like that from Beretta, I’ve just got to wonder if there’s some 24 year old kid sitting in Italy who took 3 minutes away from a soccer message board to answer your complaint only because he had to. Midwest Gun is one of Beretta’s own warranty dealers. That’s kind of a joke as far as customer service goes.

Beretta makes one of the best shotguns going with their A400 lineup but their CS has always been less than stellar. Its really a shame that us gun owners put up with CS the way we do with the prices we pay for good firearms these days. Some companies have kickass CS like Bergara, Henry, and a few others. Then you have the ones with shite CS like Beretta and Browning as well for the most part.

You got it. Henry has very impressive customer service and I’ve bought a couple of their rifles where I’d have rather had a Marlin or a Ruger lever .22 because they have such a good reputation as a company. I’m a Beretta guy and put tens of thousands of rounds a year through a couple of A303’s and a 390. I try to maintain them pretty meticulously but if it weren’t for internet communities, I might give them up. Owning a Beretta is like dating a hot chick, you’ll have to put up with some shite.
I think it was a website poster that discovered that the fore-end nut needed regular routine disassembly and maintenance on most Berettas.
