Man everyone will probably say optima and all the other expensive batteries on the market, but I prefer just the Walmart everstart. Everstart batteries are a lot cheaper and they have a hell of a warranty. If the battery is still under warranty and it has any problems just bring it back and they usually don’t even check it, just give you a new one. Back in the day I never bought batteries, I use to just drain them low and bring them back and tell them that it doesn’t charge anymore and they would give me a new one. Haha my high school days. As far as holding a charge all day while on the water they do. I bowfish for alligator gar a lot and some days I will be on the water from sun up to sun down pretty much non stop trolling and they last the whole time. I run a 24v trolling motor.

Second this. $99 for a 29 series and I can fish all day. Got 4 years out of my last set. Never had to test the warranty personally but I hear they’ll give a a new one no questions.

All the flooded lead acid batteries on the market are about the same, most are made in the same factory.

What matters is how you take care of them. Get a volt meter and use it. Never run a lead-acid battery down below 12.0V. Always charge it as soon as you're done using it, never let it sit overnight discharged. Get a good smart charger from NOCO or another reliable brand, it will pay for itself. If you have a regular analog charger don't trust the trickle charge, get it to 12.7-12.8 and take it off charge. Go to walmart and get a gallon of distilled water and label it for batteries only so you will always have it, and top them off every few months.

Do these things and your typical 12V deep cycle will last 3-5 years with trolling motor use. It's not that hard and will save you a bunch of money.

Just bought two of these Duracells for my trolling motor at Batteries + Bulbs.

LINK

Go to Sam’s and check out their batteries. You can get a decent one for the price.

I have used a bunch of different batteries over the years. I had Optima batteries in my extreme and they worked just fine but they were very heavy. I got 6 years of use out if them though. I switched them out with ever start batteries right before I sold it. Other than the price, I didn't see a noticeable difference between them.

To be fair I have a D/C battery charger on my boat. It charges my trolling batteries while the outboard is running. This really makes all the difference in the world when I an running around from spot to spot in a tournament.

For what its worth I have lithium pros 36v in my new boat for the trolling motor and a blue top Optima for the cranking battery. The boat came with these batteries when I bought it. I haven't used it enough to give a honest opinion on the lithium battery system yet.

For years I’ve been running the autozone marine batteries in my boats with no complaints. I keep my minn Kota onboard hooked up year round when not in use and it’s plugged up as soon as I get it parked. Have also heard nothing but good about big momma/hot momma batteries but they can’t be found just anywhere.
