I'm going to try a 20 gauge this year for the dove opener. What's the OB's opinion on the best shells?

I don't hunt dove, but I can guess that most everyone's go to shell for dove is whatever is cheapest.

Doesn't really matter but I guess I'd lean 7.5 with a 20 and 8's with a 12. Cheapest is the driving factor, but if you're shooting an auto you may want to get 1 oz shot instead of 7/8 oz, which is what most of your cheaper 20 gauge shells are gonna be..

skeet shot, cheaper the better. If shooting auto, make sure your gun can cycle them before buying more than 1 box.

Whatever is cheap that your gun likes. Mine won't eject Rios so I usually grab monarchs.

Whatever 7 1/2s I can find, if I'm shooting a 20 it's an over/under so I don't have to worry about my gun liking them/not cycling them. Vast majority of the time I'm shooting a 12ga though, running after a dove thru mesquite and cactus is miserable and a 12ga with 7 1/2s pretty much eliminates that which is nice.
