I’ve been using a Mr Twister Saltwater Piranha for three years, hundreds of Specs later still going strong.

I grew up freshwater fishing using electric on bass and sacalait. Since I started Saltwater fishing 3 years ago I'm using only a blade. I tried electric on redfish and it was a disaster. I may have to give it another shot.

Yup I just checked the academy in Hammond and they have them in stock now. Cancelling my order and headed that way, thanks for the update.

I have a rapala rechargeable and wouldn’t recommend it for reds. Haven’t cleaned a trout with it yet but for reds it lacks the arse needed to clean them quickly and cleanly.

Really? I just moved to one of those this year and cleaned limits of reds + a handful of trout 2 days in a row on a single charge and had no issue. I did move a little slow, but it slid right through fine.

18V Milwaukee Sawzall with a 12” Filetzall blade. Sumbitch is bad arse.

How heavy are the Sawzalls compared to a regular electric knife? I’m seeing more and more of these at cleaning tables. The guide service at Toledo I’ve been with several times all use the plug-in Rapalas, said they hold up longest. But cleaning Sacs and Bass ain’t like redfish and snapper

It’s gonna be heavier just because of the battery pk but it’s not that bad.

I have a Piranha Max currently. I had 54 nice sacaulait to clean Thursday. Around number 40, it bogged down and struggled. I just picked up a corded Bubba Blade at Academy for $99. Hope to give a review on full moon next week.

Use game sheers to cut the spines on the larger redfish. Works for me.

Maybe I have a bad one. I just feel like it struggles cutting through redfish rib bones.

I've had the same mister twister for a long time just change the blades occasionally

if I have to clean redfish, I will use a serrated kitchen knife and make that diagonal slit right behind the gills with it, then start filleting with electric knife

that first cut is the toughest on blades

I have the kobalt for reds and snapper and it makes cleaning EASY

The blade is the key for using any of the sawzall for bigger fish. Filetzall has a smaller blade but it is too sharp for specks for me. I still like a good 9” hand dexter for specks.

not really sure why people are posting the Sawzalls with the Filetsaw blade as a response to this post. All it's good for is filleting large scaled fish.

OP, I've been using American Angler fillet knives for well over a decade and have been happy with them. But, I got to use my buddys new Bubba Blade corded knife a few weeks ago on a mess of trout and limits of red snapper and redfish. I will be buying one for myself. Comes with 4 blades. The largest blade was amazing, and they attach at 2 points instead of one like other knives keeping the long blades closer together.

The smallest blade was amazing to use cleaning trout.

it had all the arse you could want. I looked at the size of the teeth on those blades and thought for sure they'd tear the trout meat up. Nope.

We fished the Catholic rodeo. Fished Thursday-Saturday. All 3 of our days looked like this and used only that one knife. Did great.

Have been using the Bubba rig (corded) now for a couple of months, handful of trips with trout, reds and sheep.

One game it has changed for me is with regard to the sheep.......just fillet those mofos just like you would a red or drum, frick their rib cage, thus I'm keeping more of them these days.

Does well with trout and reds as well. One noteworthy observation, when running it on bigger fish for a good little while, it gets HOT on the inside of my palm. Usually only wear a glove on my non-knife hand but now will wear one on both to help with the heat issue since I burned my hand a bit last trip. Always something......

Overall it's been great, retired my AA setup to backup duty.

Rapala rechargeable. I cleaned ~100 trout on one charge. it is nice not to have a cord always pulling on the end of the knife.

It cleans small reds fine, but its not smart to clean larger ones with any of the smaller knifes you would clean trout with.(the type of power and blades differ to much between the two)

All the other knives use the standard blade design like the one you posted. You owe it to yourself to put your hands on the Bubba. Just to see/feel the difference. Not saying your knife sucks.
Guy next to me at the cleaning table had the cordless Bubba and was cleaning dome pretty sizable Cobia. I kept waiting on his battery to die. Never missed a lick. I'm still not sure if I want the corded or cordless. I'm never anywhere where there's not power available.
