Best glue to mount a phone holder to dash

I have a perfect spot on my dashboard to mount one of the magnetic mounts on my dash. The metal ball is like a steel ball bearing so it's pretty heavy, so most things have failed after a couple days. My latest attempt was a two part resin that I had lying around and it failed. Any ideas?

I did something similar many years ago with some of the “industrial strength” velcro, expecting it to fail, but it actually held for as long as I needed it.

+1 for Velcro. Surprisingly the extra give will prevent it from pulling too hard on the glue. But it will eventually melt because Louisiana heat. It’s inevitable but can at least be slowed down.
For a permanent solution you could pull your dash up and bolt it down but that’s considerably more work.

3-M Dual Lock
Use it all the time for work, its like velcro on steroids.

You might try some Goop. I'd rough up both contact areas.

Marine appoxy will do the job. Just know that it’s never coming off.

All of the Goop I've used is similar to caulk in consistency when it dries. It doesn't get hard. I've only used the stuff in the black tube and the red tube though.
OP, see if you can find a RAM mount that'll fit your truck. They hold very well, and you can move them around to whatever position you think is best. I had a CB radio in one in my F250, and it didn't move at all

I had a work vehicle with two radio and I think I tried every method possible to glue mic holders to the dash over the years and LA heat beat every one of them. In the end, I found that drilling a small hole and screwing something down was always the way to go. The material that they make the interiors from seems to be the culprit. I screwed a rough metal plate down once and then put Velcro on that and it worked fine whereas the Velcro pulled off the dash material several times previously.

i just don't have anyway to screw that ball down, it's got a hollow flat back, hard to explain

3M VHB has worked for me with other phone holders.

I don't think a velcro or sticky tape of any kind will work. I have an iphone plus with a magnetic card holder case. It's not light
Going to look at grabbing some marine epoxy. I'm not expecting to ever remove this

The epoxies they make in the great year of 2018 are eons better than the ol JB Weld we had back in the day. $6 of good epoxy can put a damn spaceship together.

You could also go with some high temperature RTV silicone for engine blocks. I’ve used the stuff with tons of different applications and it is extremely tough when cured.

Idk boss. I checked it out for a project I did on my truck last year, and JB Weld Original was what I chose for plastic. Everything has held up well so far. It is softer that stuff like Gorilla Glue, so it can handle the vibration of a vehicle better IMHO.
Other very important aspects are things like prepping the surfaces properly, and keeping the two parts being glued from moving while the glue is setting.

I haven't had any problem with mine sticking with the factory adhesive. That being said, the answer to your question will always be gorilla glue.
