Best Place for an overnight Canoe/Camping Trip?

I'm looking for a good spot to do an overnight canoe trip within 4 hours of Baton Rouge. Any of you have any good places that you would recommend?

Black creek is good, bogue chitto is good. Okatoma out of hattiesburg is cool too and actually has a few whitewater rapids. All have beaches that you can camp out on. I recommend, for a two night trip, canoeing to a beach, staying there for two nights, and finishing the trip the last day.

Second black creek. Haven't done the Okatoma but its planned for this year.
If I can remember the company that we used for the canoes ill let you know.

Black Creek Canoe Rental. This will be more laid back and you can do longer trips downriver through the Desoto National Forest.

Bogue Chitto is one that you can intertube, and rent a second tube for your cooler.
Floated the Wolf a few summers ago with my boy - very slow float. Float one with some current and your back will thank you the next day.

Okatoma is the answer. Seminary canoe rental. They bring you upstream and you float back to their place.
With Okatoma outpost you float back to a parking lot and then have to load onto a bus to be brought back to your car. The wait at the end to be bused back can be long unless you happen to finish with a big group.
Seminary canoe float gives you all of the waterfalls.

I've been a couple times but I don't remember who the outfitter was for te okatoma. There's more than one, and you pay them to rent canoes and drop you off/pick you up. It will be a little more crowded than the other rivers, because it is a more exciting river (only one or 2 rapids sections, but still). It depends on if you are looking for something like that or something a little more secluded.

What he said, it's badass and we hardly ever saw other people, I think in 3 years we saw maybe 4 other groups. It's secluded as frick, no cell phone service jack

So you can just bring your own camping gear and simply pull over on a sandbar for the night and camp out with a tent?

Yep. Just make sure you camp high enough on the sand bar. I talked to a guy that said the river can come up a few feet over night. He woke up to water in his tent.

Does Black Creek have designated Camping spots along the river? or can you simply pull over and camp any place you like?
