Getting older and NOT gonna push anymore. Even a self propelled. I’m done. Not gonna break the bank. A ZTR would be nice but they are pricey and seem to be overkill. Live in a neighborhood so typical lot size

Still using a self-propelled but suggest a Snapper rear engine (or similar designed) model. If you’re less than 1 acre a ZTR seems like overkill.

Most all of the smaller (42) or so ZTR mowers are made by MTD and you'll be buying the same basic no matter who's brand you go with.

Like said above for a small yard I think the Snapper 28" rear engine would be a great choice.

Any decent used riders sold so fast I just gave up and got a robot. It mows 7 days a week, won't mow if it rained and was cheaper than even the cheapest riders new.

It will get stuck in some areas, and at first it got stuck more frequently than I liked but as it learns the yard it has gotten stuck less and less.

It will start up on its own in a few, I might go fish a little and watch it mow.

Not well versed on the various platforms / decks ect.. but anything with a Kawasaki motor will be a plus... I have a self propelled with a j180 motor on it that is 18 years old. I change the oil once each year and do not lose any oil between changes. I mow about a 1/3rd an acre every 7 to 10 days 9 months out of the year. I have no indication the motor will need to be replaced.

This thing is a beast!

55 foot by 110 foot yard with really thick st Augustine grass. Using 30 inch snappers for the last 15 years. Issues

1. Wife wants to plant stuff around yard that gets in the way

2. Front steering is a bit cheesy but easy to fix

3. Gas tank mounted above carburetor will drain gas into crankcase when the carb float sticks open. Easy fix, add shut off valve between tank and carb

4. Shift is a bit cheesy, have to change shift disk every 2 years. easy job

Deere 300 series stood alone in comfort and convince 20 years ago but I’m sure others have caught up by now while the Deere remains the same. Thinking of selling my 2015 because I only use it to pull things. Mowing with the reel now.

John Deere X350. Kawasaki engine and a better deck (and frame and transaxle and steering components etc) than the cheap ones you see at Lowe’s, Home Depot. It’s the only heavier built rider made anymore that I know of. The cheapest JD Ztrak are about the same $$ but will have B&S engine and lighter made deck.
