This is my first post. I live in Nashville. I'll be coming back to Louisiana first time in 8yrs in June to visit family, ill have access to a 20ft bay boat for 2 weeks....the best trout spots would be appreciated. Doesn't matter the location. I'll be in Lafayette area and can travel west or east. What's your opinion. Ok go....

I fish the Rigolets in Slidell or MRGO in East N.O.
That is a haul for you though.
There are several facebook pages dedicated to just this topic.

Everyone know the best speckled trout area is Lake Maurepas. My honey hole is the lone cypress tree just as you exit Blind river on the right. Fish the north side of the tree with a Lemonhead Matrix Shad 12” under cork. You can thank me later.

From Lafayette the best area would be South of Houma. The Cocodrie, Dulac, Dularge areas. Not a bad drive from Lafayette and awesome trout fishing. Not as close at Cypremore Point or Big Lake but better fishing IMO.

We’ve been doing really well at PAC also
Don’t have to go far from the launch to find fish
As for Big Lake hopefully we can get a break from the rain and let the water clean up a lil
but been seeing some decent reports a wk or 2 ago.

Contact me when you come. My best friend is basically a guide in Vermillion bay...down at C Point.
I'll hook you 2 up and you can get the info from him. It depends on rain, clarity, wind, etc.

Be careful if you go to Terrebonne Parish. A lot has changed in the 8 years you’ve been gone. Summer storms changed a lot of the fishing grounds and how you navigate them.
Good luck.

Uh no, unless you bring extra gas and want to fish way out in the gulf

Go to Terrebonne in June. Hit up this board as you get closer to your trip. I'll be happy to pass along any reports.

OP can be at cal Pt in the same amount of time it takes to drive to the Pt. VB trout are like a needle in a hay stack, very few catch there. He can stumble on trout here with a bit of coaching.
Come during the week, be early, post up 3 days prior to trip.

Just saying that VB should not be on his radar. For every good day out there, there are many more bad. And in June, you are doing lots of boat riding and fishing in the gulf Very inconsistent.

If I had 2 weeks to fish in June, I’d be in GI/Fourchon/Leeville.

Hes staying in Lafayette! If things are running well out there, why would he need to leave and trailer long distances, stay in hotels, etc
I offered to hook him up with an expert that would know..including telling him if he were better off somewhere else.
Why do you or anyone GAF If hes offered to talk to a guide FOR FREE?
My God yall are insufferable

Check back closer to when you come as the rain amounts up north and the River change things quite a bit the past few years.
Best shot if you planned today would be Grand Isle during the summer.

South of houma should be best close to lafayette.
I have camp a cypremort point and I'm thinking of selling my pathfinder and get an offshore boat. Trout fishing is the worst here in the state. Pretty ridiculous. Would rather concentrate on deep dropping for groupers, swords, etc.

Depends on who you wanna fish around also. If you wanna fish around a bunch of jackasses you can fish around New Orleans. Every where else is fine. In June I would fish Grand Isle area
