Best time of year for redfish or speckled trout fishing? Bonus: Charter recommendation?

I’m thinking of arranging a fishing trip as a gift to my dad, probably out of Grand Isle. When are the best times for this? I’m also open to any charter recommendations.

I seem to do the best in the heat of the summer, July and August. Check the tide charts for the best tides. I think Realscreamers post on here and may be worth a try.

Reds, Fall is best, but winter is not bad. They heat up in September.
Specs, you can catch a quick limit in the summer but a good guide can put you on them year round. Not EVERY day, wind, water clarity, tides, current, etc all can hurt or help your chances, but in the fall and winter you will catch bigger trout. Getting 15 in December might yield what getting 25 in July gets you.
Ditch pickles, green trout.. marsh bass are always a solid option when trout or Reds let you down, they are stacked deep in the Marsh and taste just as good as trout IMO.
Sheepshead are another standby, more reliable in the fall and winter, but again caught year round. I don't know if I would go after a mess on my own, but if a guide is cleaning them or trying to get someone new on some fish that is a solid eating fish too that is fun to catch.
I like fall/winter fishing. You can sleep in some, mid day fishing is good, it isn't 110 degrees, and well, it isn't 110 degrees and I like sleeping...

Last few years we have booked charters the last couple weeks of May or first two week of June in GI and Cocodrie and have had really good trips. Always helps when the weather cooperates.

Anybody know a good charter captain out of Grand Isle?

Captain Frank with Laid Back Charters. Great guy and knows where to find the fish.
