They aren't out of business, just bankrupt. They'll get bought out and be operating again

How is this possible, they are popular and they start out at 70+K.

This has been known for quite a while here in Oklahoma where they're built. One of the main reasons I bought a different brand a few months ago when I was in the market for a new boat.

Hope you’re right but there is a dark horizon for boat builders on every tier.
Most enlarged their ops during the shamdemic and took on debt. Those interest resets ain’t going down.

Would have thought skeeter was the most popular boat in Texas

Talking bay boats, they could be with bass boats. Skeeter went under several times until Yamaha bought them.

The bay boat market is flooded with builders. With traditional larger CC manufacturers now offering smaller sizes, there's a ton of competition.

I wonder if they will be selling the molds.

BHF Blue wave llc is not blue wave boats. Google is your friend here.

Probably end up joining the black hole that is the white river marine death spiral.

Is bass pro still buying and wrecking boat companies?

I dont see how they stay in business. It can't be easy moving $150k bay boats.

There's nothing really special about them. I dont see where they'd be worth a whole lot. The hull isn't unique or special. The fit and finish wasn't special. The layouts IMO kinda sucked. I never understood the appeal at their price point, which applies to the majority of builders in the 20-24' center console market.

This. Same for boat retailers too. It’s pretty bad for them right now.

Pretty well known this was or is going to happen. Their quality has been trash the past few years. Lots of unhappy customers and dealerships had their arms tied as they knew the fate.

I was curious since I’ve been impressed with the few I’ve fished, it looks like it went down like this;

Husband and wife founded company years back, made a good boat and grew

Sons took over business from parents when they retired

PE firm from cali approaches them about funding an expansion, promises to be hands off, then fires the two sons once they own the place and start squeezing every dime out of the name, quality nosedives, sons are suing the firm for forcing them out

PE firm is now broke and has filed bankruptcy due to almost exclusively owning things that inflation kills sales for

Decent chance the firm will be forced to sell back to the brothers either as settlement from the lawsuit or bankruptcy

It will be alright - Blue Wave just needs to partner with Hunter Biden - he has hidden skills

I would estimate the majority of the very visible boat mfgs are now owned by PE. Some will survive but many will belly up due to profits over riding knowledge and quality.
