Anyone have one of these? I have a 27ft centerconsole with some space in the center console. I don't have a freshwater tank at this time. But I'm not sure why I couldn't just put a 5 gallon water jug with a motor and misters? I was mostly curious about Gallons per hour usage, some are saying 1 gallon per hour but that seems low to me?

I am curious about it working. My experience offshore suggests that there is no lack of humidity already....adding to it seems like it'd make the heat index worse given the lack of shade even on very nice offshore boats??? With the almost omnipresent breeze offshore and what shade a top offers it would probably be pretty nice but I ain't sure it wouldn't be akin to drinking alcohol in cold weather...feels warmer but actually lowers the bodies temperature. May feel cooler but the body would actually under more stress do to the increased humidity...maybe???

Misters definitely feel great. They have them at amusement parks, I've had them around personal pools, etc.

I just gotta assume the amount of fresh water they use is pretty high and the amount available on a boat is very low.

I'm skeptical about those tiny nozzles getting slightly corroded, and then you get a drip instead of a mist.

That said, I've only seen them on a few new boats at a show. I have no clue.

I can't disagree. The marine systems are stupid expensive. They make basic systems for things like patio fans. I'm not sure why you couldn't just rig one of these up with a small pump. If its truly only 1 gallon per hour that pump is pretty small.

I'm mostly looking for it for the family boat days in the summer.

I would go on Amazon, get one of those plastic garden mister kits that connects to a garden hose (I think they have some that are all plastic). Route a hose to a washdown pump. Plumb washdown pump inlet to one of those clear/rectangular 5gal water containers.

I’m working on a misting system for my CC but not for cooling. Mine will be raw water pump with a chain of misters strung under the gunwhale the entire length of the boat. When we start catching tunas and making a mess, flip switch and let the mister water roll down from under gunwhales onto deck keeping blood from sticking til we get time to hose it all off.

it was an option when i bought my boat but i did not get it. The system seems simple enough; small tank, pump, hose and nozzles. I do see a lot of people are having trouble with them per the boat forums.

Lol that could be said about 95% of things on a boat.

I would think if you get:
- all plastic or 316 stainless/bronze nozzles
- marine rated pump mounted in a somewhat non exposed (to saltwater) location

You shouldn’t have many issues. Especially if using a dedicated freshwater storage source.

That would depend on the style/quantity of emitters and the pressure your pump is putting out.

Just make sure the water is 'fresh' for each use. I wouldn't want stagnant water misting on me.

Hooked up one in my dog kennels and it was a bust, nozzles will clog and only drip water in short order.

We aren’t talking a patio mister. Most of the boat ones have something like 2,4, or 6 misters. It’s a pretty small space really. The marine ones are all about 1/2 gallon/ hour per mister best I can tell.

I mean even a large boat unless it has a machine to produce fresh water is only going to have 20 or 30 gallons.

When it gets to the point I need misters on a boat I’ll just stay home. And it has been at that point this summer!!

this ^^^^^^^

plus, in a boat, unless you sanitize it regularly, im sure it will quickly turn into a festering petri dish of germs that will make everyone sick

My buddy has a system on his Crevelle and it has misters all over the T top. Way more than you think

Why not get one of the misting fans from Lowe's or home Depot? I know Lowe's has one that sits on top of a 5 gallon bucket.

I had one set up on my old bay boat top. I used the livewell in front of the console and dropped bags of ice or frozen blocks in with freshwater. Tied into the drain plumbing a pump with enough pressure. Worked well enough with 6 misters and never ran out of water. When working properly it almost created a screen and dropped the temp significantly

Like its been pointed out you have to make sure to keep the tips clean before and after each trip. It almost became more of a headache than anything. If i had to do it over again id probably just build a small swamp cooler to put on top the console

Been on 3 boats that have them and they don't work that well.

Get a small ice chest, put some ice and fresh water, dump off a little florida water in it, soak you one of those cooling towels in it and put it around your neck. Works better at cooling you off then any misting system.

I have nothing but anectodal evidence so take it for what it is worth. Few years ago, fished 2 days on a brand new sea hunt that had misters in the T-Top. Definitely helped in the heat of the day. It too had 10-12 misters around the T-Top. Not much wind on those two days, so you got most of the mist that came out. Florida water, ice and a cooling rag does about the same though as someone mentioned and that is pretty cheap.
