Killed my first bobcat this morning and I’m looking to get him mounted. I looked at Matthew courvilles site and it says $1125+ for bobcats. That sounds like a bit much for a 20 pound cat. Is that pretty much the going rate everywhere? Also, any recommendations on somewhere else to bring him?

Good bobcats mounts are hard to come by, about a grand is normal

Check out David Martin

Him or wade wolkart are top notch for bobcats - worth what they charge.

Tan the hide and boil the skull. Skip the mount. So many terrible Bobcat mounts out there.

I’m gonna mount him. I killed a fox close to 20 years ago that I had mounted for about $400 and it’s still beautiful. I always wanted a fox and a bobcat. It just took me longer than I thought to get the cat.
Actually missed a giant bobcat 3 years ago on my buddy’s place that ran halfway up a tree trying to get a squirrel. Never saw him until all the commotion started.

Everything at his place is priced high, but from meat to his mounts he does a very high quality job. Worth the extra $$ imo

No idea of price, but I saw this mount on fb from K&K Taxidermy I thought was pretty cool.

That looks nice, I would like to get one with his foot in a trap and the cat backing away with its mouth open

I have heard that Bobcat backstrap is delicious, I would not know, never ate any, but I do know that since I have been trapping and hunting them we have seen a huge increase in our turkey and rabbit population (good eating), maybe just a coincidence ?

I've heard of prices up to $1500+ for a bobcat. With that said, if you're going to get one mounted spend the money and get it done by someone with a good reputation of doing cats because they are very hard to come by. Any taxidermist can do it, but it takes an artist to do it right. Matthew Courville had a guy a couple years ago named Kalen Begnaud that worked for him and did all his cats that came in. That guy was amazing at cats. He doesn't work there anymore or even in taxidermy for that matter i dont believe, but he was probably the best I've seen.

TLDR - spend the money and get pics and references regardless of who you choose.

I shot one a few years ago that was carrying a squirrel. I'll try to post a picture. Was planning on getting it mounted. Had it in my FIL freezer, his freezer went out and didn't tell me.

And there are a few people who are not fond of us shooting bobcats. Not sure why!

Should I not shoot coyotes? Because I’m not eating that either. Turkey season will be closed for probably the next 5 years in Sherburne because of the population. Just doing my part to help restore it lol
