I have the 350 lb Boss Buck. When I initially put it out about 2 months ago I put corn on the ground under it to attract the deer to it. They found it, ate the corn off the ground around it but do not appear to really be eating out of the feeder. Any suggestions?

They're probably just hitting other food sources (acorns, especially). Lots of options for them where they don't have to eat the corn.

Man if they have acorns they won’t hit it hard, our consumption has went down considerably. I watched several eat corn and some mouthfuls of rice bran for a few minutes then feed on acorns for another half hour.

I have the same feeder and put the spinner on it. Great feeder, watch out for squirrels, they chewed a hole on the side!

This. I know at our place in NELA almost every single acorn is on the ground from the storm. We don’t put feed out, just food plots for rifle season and hunt the oak flats early in the year. Went through some pics taken at our food plots and traffic is low.

I feed at my place in on the SELA/ SWMS border north of Clinton and even there the deer are touching the corn much. 2-3 weeks ago they were hitting the corn hard.

The acorns on the ground will start souring quick after the rain we had yesterday.

It’s also been warm the last week. Be patient and when that cool front comes through next week, it’ll have them on their feet and feeding a lot more.

They will learn how to use it. I can assure you the North American whitetail is plenty capable of utilizing a 350 boss buck. Lot of acorns on the ground right now, corn isn’t the draw it will be in December.

If they will eat corn off the ground and not eat from a gravity feeder then that’s a head scratcher, but we use a lot of boss bucks cause the local feed store sells them a little cheaper, and the deer love them. Well made and they don’t let water in. Only complaint I have is for the price they should come with feet, if a single leg sinks in the mud all the corn is going on the ground.

Deer are weird. I have a gravity feeder in one spot where deer stack up around it waiting their turn. 300 yards away I only get pigs coming to it and occasional pics of deer passing by but not stopping.
