Got an email saying I have to let the seller know that the FFL License was received. I’m honestly not sure what that means. When buying online in the past I didn’t have to do anything. The FFL dealer just called me when the gun came in. Am I supposed to do anything here?

you're supposed to send a copy of the FFL to the seller so he knows where to send the gun.

Odd verbiage. I keep a copy of the FFLs I use for transfers and I just send them to the seller via email after a purchase.

I guess you should contact whomever the FFL is you are going to have it shipped to, and get their license information, usually a certificate or something, as proof they are a registered FFL and able to receive your gun

I selected the FFL Dealer from a list when I placed the order. Guess that's why I'm confused. I'll just contact the dealer and the seller today to make sure everyone has what they need.

This is what my order currently says
Seller Review: 6/2/2020 - Complete
Payment: 6/2/2020 - Complete
FFL Received: Awaiting FFL receipt
Shipment: Awaiting shipment

Step 1: find an FFL dealer near you that will take transfers and find out the cost. Should be about $30-40 for you.
Step 2: ask that FFL dealer to fax their FFL to the seller on gunbroker.
Step 3: Pay the seller and give them shipping info. to your FFL.
Step 4: pick up firearm at your FFL and pay them.

Some private sellers send/mail through an FFL, it's a requirement in some states IIRC. Based on the quoted sentence, sender FFL might be awaiting confirmation of receipt of sender's FFL license info by receiver FFL?

Need to find an FFL Dealer in your area. One search site.

Dealer needs to agree he's accepting shipments in these days of COVID some are not. Seller probably needs to know you have one lined up, License #, name/address of FFL etc. Confirmation of acceptance of the transaction by the FFL to the seller. Had that happen once.

I've done gunbroker a few times, and this can be a bit of an annoyance:

they give you a drop-down list of FFLs that are in their system, and then the seller makes the request for you to send the FFL. It's like, WTF?

Here's the thing- a firearm is required by law to be shipped to an FFL (technically, I think you CAN ship a long gun person-to-person within state lines only; but nobody will take that chance).
The seller has to cover his bases, so most put this email out as a blanket cover.

The receiving FFL can sometimes be a pain in the arse about it, saying "tell the seller to contact us" or "we're in the system", but the seller needs to receive a copy of the FFL before they can ship. And you're going to pay the receiving FFL a fee for their services, which is just receiving a parcel and then logging the firearm into the system upon completion of the deal.

They SHOULDN'T make you feel like you're pestering them by asking them to send, but some do. I think a lot don't want to do it, since they'd rather you buy a gun from them and they get a bigger check.

Gunbroker can be a bit deceptive on this (not intentionally, but they could do a better job); it's an auction site, not a wholesaler with an established distribution arrangement. You'd think they would have the FFL copy of the sites they list on file, and automatically send a copy upon completion, but I don't think they do.

Most places accept a faxed or email copy, but sellers can be private individuals, not just stores (I've bought from individuals before). Just like payment options vary, it's conceivable that a seller can't receive a fax (or even doesn't have a reliable printer!), and demand it be MAILED. I did have one deal that wanted a mailed copy along with the payment (money order), so I dropped by my FFL and showed him the request, he printed a copy and I put it in the envelope with the MO. The gun did come, but it just seemed a hassle.

What I usually do with GB, when I win, I send emails to my FFL about the purchase, and then call them the next business day to verbally notify them.

Regarding the order progress- a lot of sellers don't update things when they receive. They do it when they ship.

Just did a search and found out my former neighbor was a FFL. Hate that they moved now.

LOL! Go figure. I found one like 3 miles from the house. A private FFL working from his home. Has worked out great.

Appreciate all the input guys. I bought an AR from PSA and they handled everything with the FFL (Arms Merchant in Mandeville) and I didn't have to do anything. Anyway, I just called Arms Merchant and they were very helpful. They will be faxing their information to the seller and then calling me when the gun arrives.

Your link lists my cousin has holding an FFL. He used to, but surrendered it a few years ago. Told me he was sick and tired of all the paperwork.
