Bream or Crappie Fishing Near BR

Anyone know of any good spots in or around BR for finding bream or crappie? No boat, so bank fishing only. I’ve got a few spots for bass but my 6 year old doesn’t always have enough patience for them.

Lamar Dixon in Gonzales. Bring crickets.

Me and my dad used to catch beaucoup Bream in the lake near the old cow palace. On maps I think it's called campus lake. Been quite some time since I've been there though.

Heard the same thing about that pond. Any other places y’all know of?

drive west on I-10, get off at Ramah...to the right where the exit ramp is there is a small bait shop...
go past that and cross the levee...
you can pull the vehicle up to the water...
some bait few chairs maybe a pop up canopy and ice chest w some sandwiches n drinks makes for a nice time...

BREC Blackwater conservation area out in central.

big pond off Perkins, behind Pennington. It's best after dark, I think there's a fence you may have to jump...

This, but don't cross the levee there. Instead, drive down the lower levee road 4 to 5 miles and fish on the left side where Bayou Sorrel and Pat's Bay open up. Much prettier area and better fishing IMO.

If heading or in Central I'd try Waddill first unless you really want crappie.
This old guy is pretty much blind and loves to get caught. He finds a cork and follows the line down to the worm.

He might have better luck catching small bream in the catfish pond but they got some big ones in the bass pond.

Farad, are you talking about going back south under the interstate, or staying north of the interstate?

Go south of the interstate for about 5 miles to where Bayou Sorrel and Pats bay meet the levee.
The red line on this map is the levee south of I-10. Fish on the Baton Rouge side of the levee.

Thanks Shexter. Used to know the are fairly well. When I was a kid, we had a camp on Sorrell right at the fork near the very bottom of the map. Haven't been in probably 40 years. Used to leave BR in Friday afternoon and had to stop at Jack Miller's for a yoo-hoo every time.
